Freezing is an effect that freezes the afflicted entity, slowing them down, reducing their jump height, and causing damage over time.
Effect
Freezing causes afflicted entities to freeze as if submerged in powder snow. This causes the entity to gradually slow down to half their normal movement speed over the course of 140 game ticks (7 seconds), after which 1.5HP × 0.75 damage is dealt every 40 game ticks (2 seconds) until the entity stops freezing.
Wearing any piece of leather armor (including leather horse armor) causes the effects of Freezing to be nullified; while the effect itself is not removed, the entity wearing leather armor does not freeze. Standing in fire or lava also nullifies the effect, but being on fire does not.
Freezing is also intended to reduce affected entities' jump height, similarly to powder snow, but due to a bug it currently does not work as intended.
Freezing deals extra damage to certain "vulnerable" mobs, including blazes, magma cubes, and striders. After the 140 game ticks (7 seconds) of gradual slowing, they will begin taking 7.5HP × 3.75 damage every 40 game ticks (2 seconds).
The death message obtained by dying to the Freezing effect is <player> froze to death.
