Leather boots are a variant of boots that are crafted from leather. They are the seventh-highest tier of boots, having the same armor points as golden, copper, and chainmail boots but with lower durability. Wearing them allows an entity to walk on and climb through powder snow. Like all leather armor, they can be dyed and protect the wearer from freezing.

Mob loot
Zombies, husks, zombie villagers[Java Edition only], skeletons, strays, bogged, and parched have a small chance to spawn wearing armor, which may include leather boots. There is a 8.5% chance (9.5% with Looting I, 10.5% with Looting II and 11.5% with Looting III) for the mob to drop the boots they're wearing upon death unless they are spawned from an ominous trial spawner. The dropped boots are usually badly damaged, and may be enchanted with enchantment levels 5-19.

Fishing
Leather boots can be caught as a "junk" item when fishing.
Usage
When worn, leather boots provide 1 () armor point.
Powder snow
Leather boots can be used to safely cross powder snow without sinking in it. The block behaves similar to scaffolding, allowing the player to sink in by pressing crouch and move up by pressing jump. The boots also prevent the wearer from taking freezing damage.

Notes
- ↑ The hexadecimal number is always at least 6 digits (with leading zeroes if needed), with additional digits if the alpha channel is included, despite the alpha channel having no effect on the tint color.
- ↑ For positive values larger than 0x00FFFFFF, the most significant byte encodes the alpha channel (opacity), however this is effectively ignored when providing the tint color to the item model, as the tint does not affect opacity.
- ↑ Float values outside of this range are accepted, but clamped from 0 to 255 by modulo 256 after being multiplied by 255. For example, -1.0 is equivalent to 0.00392156862 (or 1/255).
- ↑ This can result in an item that is not normally obtainable and it affects the hexadecimal code that is shown in the (advanced) tooltip. For example
dyed_color=0x000000shows "#000000" butdyed_color=[0,0,0]shows "#FF000000" despite them both representing the same pure black RGB color.
