A trial key is an item obtained from trial spawners and other containers in trial chambers. It is used to unlock a standard vault and obtain its loot.

Usage
Using a trial key on a standard vault (or ominous vault placed by commands) unlocks it, causing it to eject items and the trial key to be consumed. Vaults can be unlocked once per player up to a maximum of 128 players, after which each subsequent opening causes the earliest player on the list to be forgotten.
In Java Edition, due to the bug MC-268183, any trial key with non-standard data (e.g. a renamed trial key) can't be used to open the standard vault.
