How to use the cylinder generator
- Set the diameter and the height. The diameter is the outer width of the tower, the height its number of layers, both up to 256.
- Choose the wall. Hollow with thickness 1 is a simple wall; raise the thickness for a castle wall, or pick Filled for a solid pillar.
- Open or closed. Tick Closed top and bottom to add a full floor and roof for tanks and silos.
- Build one ring, repeat it. Every layer is the same ring, apart from the floor and roof of a closed cylinder. The slider still shows each layer with its block count.
Tips for towers, silos and tanks
- Plan the inside first. The room inside is the diameter minus twice the wall: a tower of 15 with a 1-block wall has 13 blocks inside on its widest row.
- Doors and windows on the flat sides. Each ring has short straight sections facing north, south, east and west. Openings fit there without breaking the curve.
- Room for stairs. A spiral staircase around a single pillar fits into a tower of 5 (3 × 3 inside); a tower of 9 leaves a 5 × 5 square for wider stairs or a ladder with landings.
- Finish the top. Put a dome of the same diameter on the tower, or a ring of outward-facing stairs as a crown.
