How do I build a perfect circle in Minecraft?
Pick a diameter and copy the chart row by row. Start with the middle row, which is as long as the diameter, and work outwards. All four quarters of a circle are mirror images, so you only need to count one of them and repeat it. Hover or tap a block in the chart to see how many blocks its row has.
Why do small circles look like octagons?
A circle of 5 to 9 blocks has only one or two steps per quarter, so the block grid cannot show much of a curve. From about 15 blocks across a circle looks round, and the larger it gets, the smoother the edge. If a small circle looks too square, try the neighbouring size with the Odd/Even button.
Should my circle have an odd or an even diameter?
Odd diameters (9, 15, 21 …) have a single centre block, so a 1- or 3-wide path can run straight through the middle and a fountain or beacon can sit exactly in the centre. Even diameters have a 2×2 centre and suit 2- or 4-wide paths. The Odd/Even button next to the zoom buttons switches to the neighbouring size.
Thin or thick ring?
Both rings are closed: water, light and mobs cannot pass a corner where two blocks only touch diagonally. A thin ring uses the fewest blocks (56 for a diameter of 21). A thick ring fills those corners (80 blocks), so it looks bolder and more solid from a distance.
How do I make a wide ring, like a road around a plaza?
Keep Hollow and raise the Thickness. A circle of 41 with thickness 4 is a 4-block-wide ring of 424 blocks, enough for a road or a moat around a round plaza. Switch to Filled for floors, platforms and ponds.
How do I transfer a large circle into my world?
Stand on the centre block and turn on the coordinates (F3 in Java Edition, "Show Coordinates" in the Bedrock world settings). The readout under the chart gives every block as an X and Z offset from the centre, so you can count from the centre lines instead of following the edge. For big circles, zoom in and scroll the chart.
