Camera Momentum

The first-person camera banks, sways and dips with what you are doing. Five spring-driven motions are added to the view angles. The field of view and the projection stay as they are, so it runs next to Sodium, Iris, shader packs and other camera mods. Client side and first person only. In game the mod is called Momentum.

On foot

• Strafe bank: the view rolls into sideways movement.
• Turn sway: the view lags behind a fast look and settles when you stop.
• Sprint lurch: one nudge when a sprint starts, not a bob for the whole run.
• Landing dip: a kick on landing, scaled by the fall speed and capped, so a long fall does not throw the camera.

Gliding

Elytra bank rolls the view into a glide turn, like an aircraft. Added to the strafe bank, it never tilts further than Max roll.

Tuning

• A master strength (0 to 150 percent) and one slider per effect (0 to 200 percent). 0 turns an effect off.
• Max roll caps the total tilt: 8 degrees by default, 1 to 20.
• Reduce motion halves everything and switches off the landing dip and the sprint lurch.
• The settings are behind the Config button in the mod list on NeoForge 1.21.1 and Forge 1.20.1, and on a page in Sodium's video settings on Fabric 1.21.1 and on 26.2. Fabric 1.20.1 has no screen: edit config/momentum.json.

Requirements

Minecraft 1.20.1 (Forge or Fabric, Java 17), 1.21.1 (NeoForge or Fabric, Java 21) or 26.2 (NeoForge or Fabric, Java 25). Client only, nothing to install on the server. Nothing else is needed, not even Fabric API. Sodium is optional.
