How to add an armor trim
- Find a smithing template. Explore the structure of the trim you want (see the table below) or brush suspicious gravel in Trail Ruins. Elder guardians drop the Tide template.
- Copy the template first. Craft it with 7 diamonds and its duplication block to get 2 templates, so you never use up your last one.
- Open a smithing table. Craft one from 2 iron ingots and 4 planks of any wood, or find one in a village toolsmith house. See the smithing table recipe.
- Place template, armor and material. Template in the first slot, the armor piece in the second, the trim material in the third.
- Take the trimmed armor. The trim appears on the armor in the result slot. Repeat for every piece, with the same or a different trim.
Every piece can have its own trim
Helmet, chestplate, leggings and boots are trimmed one by one, so a set can mix patterns and colors. Leggings use a second texture layer in the game, which is why the same trim looks slightly different on them. Leather armor keeps its dye color under the trim, and the turtle shell can be trimmed like a helmet.
