This testing fanmade shader is a potato friendly shader for those who cant try VTXS original, it contains:
Godrays
Shadows
Global Illumination
Screen Space Reflections
Denoiser
Settings
a lot of customization
and a bunch more!
this shader is just for testing realism with a potato, i tested this shader on a potato and goes like 20 - 30 fps, and windowed, 40 - 60 (depending your device)
You can use this shader on an RTX, so that it runs at like 200 fps
there are presets, such as: Potato, low, mid, quality, realistic, raytraced, pathtraced
the GI (or illumination) works with any block, no matter If its new, or a moded block, a bunch of math for this to work.
Compatible With:
Physics Mod
Physics Mod Pro
BBS
BBS FS
Flashback
ReplayMod
and a lot of more mods...
Disclaimer:
this shader is just for testing and testing images, comparing to VTXS original, its way different, cuz its a fanmade, not official.
Planned Features (Next Update):
- Custom Upscaling Options: Total control for the user! Toggle between a manual resolution slider(Render Scale) for maximum FPS, or a TAA (Temporal Anti-Aliasing) algorithm to clear up the image.
- Noise Reduction & Ghosting Tweaks: Advanced mathematical tweaks to eliminate visual artifacts and clean up the rendering pipeline.
- Improved Global Illumination (GI): Enhancing ambient lighting and bounce-light calculations for a more realistic atmosphere on low-end hardware.
Coming Project: BTXS (Bedrock Edition)
- The Concept: Bringing the iconic, lightweight realism of VTXS straight to Minecraft Bedrock!
- Target Audience: Mobile players, console users, and low-end Windows setups looking for beautiful graphics without a performance drop.
- The Goal: Adapt our custom math algorithms to fit Bedrock's rendering engine, delivering clean lighting, universal emissive/neon block support, and smooth FPS for everyone.
The Story Behind VTXS: Potato Way
It all started as a simple question back in school: "What if I make a realism shader like VTXS, but well-optimized enough to run smoothly on any low-end system?"
Originally, it was meant to be a private, personal experiment—just a custom shader pack tailored for my own gameplay. I developed, coded, and tweaked every single line of math using my actual laptop (my only PC!). I wanted to push the boundaries of what a "potato PC" could handle, optimizing features like Godrays, global illumination, and screen space reflections to run smoothly between 20-60 FPS without breaking the hardware.
Against all my expectations, what started as a "bad, private shader" quickly evolved into something much bigger. I decided to release it, and the response has been mind-blowing! It has been shared all over the internet—even on external modding sites—and seeing the community download and enjoy my work is incredibly rewarding.
Current Status Notice:
As you might know, my trusty potato laptop officially broke down just a day after I published this project! Because of this, I won't be able to push new code updates or technical fixes for a little while until my equipment is sorted out. However, the shader is fully functional, out there, and ready for you to enjoy. Thank you all so much for the massive support and for being part of this journey!
