Description
Old Description (1.4 and under)
my first mod so that's cool
This is a small mod that adds a new coal called "Spicy Coal". This coal is like standard coal, but more effective (crafts 10 torches, smelts 24 items) and can be used to craft Blaze Rods and Spicy Apples which restore 8 points of food (twice as much as an apple) and grant 30 seconds of Fire Resistance. Spicy Coal requires an Iron Pickaxe to mine. (there's also a spicy coal block, it's just a building block and a better smelting option). Spicy Coal can also be crafted with a flint and steel and coal (shapeless)
Images of crafting, smelting, and block textures (im sorry im not good at making screenshots):
This mod was made with MCreator. https://mcreator.net/
Don't ask me to backport.
Updates:
1.1:
Added the Spicy helmet, which grants fire resistance in exchange for no defense. It is crafted like this:

The helmet doesn't actually appear white in-game. That's just MCreator not playing nice.
Added advancements "A Spicy Upgrade" and "It could use some salt"
You can now surround a lava bucket with coal to craft spicy coal
1.2:
Fixed the Spicy Helmet giving fire protection 2 instead of 1
Added the Fire Trap. It sets mobs on fire and is crafted like this:
New advancement: "It burns!"
1.3:
Fire trap (and advancement "It Burns!") removed because they didn't work
Spicy Soup added. It restores 14 half hunger points and is crafted like this:
New challenge advancement "Delicious"
1.4:
Spicy Soup nerfed to require a spicy coal block instead of a spicy coal
New item, Enhanced Spicy Helmet, which grants fire resistance along with 5 defense. It's crafted like this:

The helmet on the left is the normal spicy helmet, the one on the right is the enhanced one.

This mod has received a complete overhaul, changes to the below are in bold.
This is a small mod that adds a new coal called "Spicy Coal". This coal is like standard coal, but more effective (crafts 12 torches, smelts 24 items) and it can be used to craft Blaze Rods. You can also make an ingot version which is used to craft Spicy Apples which restore 8 points of food (twice as much as an apple) and grant 30 seconds of Fire Resistance, a spicy helmet which grants fire resistance and 5 points of protection (people who used 1.4 remember this as the enhanced spicy helmet), spicy soup that restores 14 points of food, and a spicy sword that has low base damage but can grant the "Cursed Inferno" effect, which constantly sets you on fire and can be put out with water, but getting out of water will set you back on fire until the effect expires. Spicy Coal requires a diamond pickaxe to mine and spawns in the nether. (there's also a spicy coal block, it's just a building block and a better smelting option). There's also a few advancements to unlock.
1.12.2 Made with MCreator (mcreator.net).
You know how KrokoOnAir released a 1.14.4 port for Depressed Coal? Well, they ported Spicy Coal too! The best part? They're compatible with each other! Just like with Depressed Coal, not everything is the same in the 1.14.4 port. For one, the spicy helmet is part of a full armor set (and has been nerfed because of that), and the armor set bonus is fire resistance. Also, the sword deals 10 damage.
