🔗 Chain Crafter

A JEI addon that auto-crafts the full chain of missing sub-ingredients for a recipe, using only what's already in your inventory.

✨ Overview

Chain Crafter is a JEI addon for the crafting table. When you hover a recipe in JEI that you can't make right now — because you're missing an intermediate item, not a base material — Chain Crafter checks whether everything needed to produce that missing item (and anything it needs, recursively) is already sitting in your inventory. If it is, a new Craft Chain button appears next to JEI's normal transfer arrow. Click it and the whole chain of missing sub-ingredients gets crafted automatically, leaf ingredients first — the recipe you were actually looking at is left ready for you to craft yourself, no manual back-and-forth gathering sub-recipes first.

Appears in the JEI recipe view whenever the hovered recipe can't be filled directly from your inventory but can be resolved by crafting its missing sub-ingredients first.

• Works for vanilla crafting-table recipes, shaped and shapeless, any number of levels deep
• Sits right next to JEI's own transfer arrow — no extra screens or menus
• Only crafts the missing sub-ingredients — the final item stays yours to craft, via JEI's own transfer button or by hand
• If a base material is genuinely missing, nothing crafts and you're told exactly what's short instead of a partial, inconsistent craft

🛡️ Inventory-only, server-authoritative

Nothing is pulled from nearby chests or containers — only what you're carrying.

• Every craft is recalculated and executed server-side from your real inventory at the moment you click
• The client never sends a pre-computed plan, so there's no way to desync or duplicate items with a stale client-side calculation

🏗️ Respects vanilla crafting rules

The button only works with the crafting table or the player inventory screen open, exactly like JEI's own transfer button.

• Doesn't bypass the 2×2 / 3×3 grid-size restriction — recipes that need a full crafting table still need one
• For the auto-craft to run, the mod must be installed on both the client and the server

🎮 How to Use

1. Install NeoForge 21.1.235 or newer for Minecraft 1.21.1.
2. Install JEI for the same Minecraft/NeoForge version.
3. Place Chain Crafter in your mods folder.
4. Open your crafting table (or your inventory, for 2×2 recipes) and hover the item you want in JEI's recipe list.
5. If a Craft Chain button appears next to the transfer arrow, click it — the missing sub-ingredients get crafted automatically, and you can then craft the final item yourself.
