Gotta Catch Em Small (GCES) is a Pixelmon sidemod supporting both Pixelmon Generations and Pixelmon Reforged that allows server owners to set up progressive based tiers for their players to catch and level up Pokemon, among other things.
As of 04/10/2022, Pixelmon Reforged support has been dropped due to too many issues caused by their unstable and broken code. Versions of GCES, if any, for Pixelmon Reforged may still be downloaded from my Discord. Independent developers in my Discord may or may not have updated GCES to a later version. I deeply apologize to users of Pixelmon Reforged, both for using such a broken mod and for any inconvenience that my ceasing support has caused.
These tiers make it so players have to progress into being able to catch and use higher level Pokemon instead of just being able to yeet an Ultra Ball at a random level 50-something 5 minutes into the game and having an OP Pokemon from the start.
Tiers can be restricted by GCES' built-in integer based leveling system or by permission nodes.
Tiers for other things, such as the ability to use Mega Evolutions, Z-Moves, and Dynamaxing can also be enabled and configured.
GCES also has 4 different difficulty settings, Easy, Medium, Hard, and Default, enabling further and more specific customization. These difficulties are optional, meaning you don't have to use all 4, but the Default difficulty cannot be disabled (otherwise there would be not much of a point of having GCES installed, lol) but you can, like, disable Easy, Medium, and Hard. There are also settings for allowing the player to pick which difficulty they play on or force-setting all players to a set difficulty.
Finally, GCES is also able to scale wild Pokemon spawns based on each player's catching tier, so the natural spawns around a player compliment their catching tiers so players won't get trapped being surrounded by Pokemon they can't catch.
