A self-contained headlamp helmet — light the way ahead, fueled by coal.
Fabric • Minecraft 26.1.2 • Requires Fabric API • Singleplayer & Server
Free your offhand and ditch the torches. Mining Helmet adds a craftable miner's helmet with a built-in headlamp that lights up whatever you're looking at — like a real flashlight, projected forward instead of glowing all around you.
It's fully self-contained: no LambDynamicLights, no GeckoLib — the only dependency is Fabric API. Works in singleplayer and on dedicated servers.

| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| H | Turn the lamp on / off |
| G | Cycle the range level (Very low → … → Max) |
Equip the helmet in your head slot and keep coal or charcoal in your inventory — it's consumed automatically. Both keys are rebindable in Options → Controls.
Shaped recipe — 3 Iron Ingots + 2 Leather + 1 Lantern:
| Iron | Iron | Iron |
| Leather | Lantern | Leather |

Place any armor helmet (iron, gold, diamond, netherite…) together with a Mining Helmet anywhere in a crafting table. You get your same helmet — keeping enchantments and durability — now with the headlamp.

Press G to cycle. Higher range = more light and reach, but burns coal faster:
| Level | Light | Reach | Coal cost |
|---|---|---|---|
| Very low | 8 | ~4 blocks | ×1 |
| Low | 10 | ~5.5 blocks | ×2 |
| Medium | 12 | ~7 blocks | ×3 |
| High | 14 | ~8.5 blocks | ×4 |
| Max | 15 | ~10 blocks | ×5 |
When you add the lamp to a helmet, the helmet's material makes coal last longer (less coal at every level):
| Base helmet | Coal efficiency |
|---|---|
| Leather | +0% |
| Copper | +20% |
| Chainmail | +25% |
| Iron | +40% |
| Turtle | +50% |
| Gold | +70% |
| Diamond | +100% |
| Netherite | +150% |
A netherite helmet sips coal about 2.5× slower than leather.
