# Digway (English)

Break one block and dig a whole tunnel cross-section. Fabric / NeoForge for Minecraft 26.3.

## How it works
- Break any block within reach (it does not have to be adjacent): a block at your feet or head height centers the area on it, with the bottom row at your feet level, extending up by Height and forward by Depth. With "Any height triggers" ON, the broken block itself becomes the bottom-center.
- Turn on "Dig up/down" (OFF by default) to dig vertically: look steeply down / up and break a block below your feet / above your head.
- "Off while sneaking" is set separately for area digging (first page) and bulk placement (bulk placement settings); when ON, that feature does nothing while you sneak (both OFF by default).
- "Tool wear" chooses how much the tool wears out in one area dig: "As much as 1 block" (default) or "Per block dug". Creative mode never wears the tool.
- "Initial diggable blocks" and "Added diggable blocks" switch each group on or off for a while without changing the list (both ON by default). Each row of the block list also has its own ON/OFF button, so a single entry can be switched off for a while and stays in the list (OFF rows are struck through).
- The Digway ON/OFF button is in the "General" section at the top of the settings. The Digway ON/OFF key defaults to `;`. Settings: Mod Menu (Fabric) or the Config button in the Mods screen (NeoForge). Like the vanilla video settings, it is a scrolling list with the option name on the left and its button (or number box) on the right; hover an option to see what it does. Scroll with the mouse wheel.
- Width, height, depth and max blocks are typed on the first page of the settings. Width must be odd. Defaults to 3x3x8; the most you can type is 63 (width, odd only) / 64 (height) / 64 (depth). If the range is more than "max blocks", it is dug smaller (depth first, then height, then width) and a red warning in the settings shows the size really dug (the settings themselves are not changed).
- It only works with the right tool ("Proper tool only" on the first page of the settings, ON by default): an area dig starts only when you hold a tool that suits the broken block (a pickaxe for stone, a shovel for dirt...), and inside the area only blocks that the held tool suits are dug. Bare hands do not start one. Not checked in creative mode.
- Drops follow normal mining rules (Fortune / Silk Touch apply). Tool durability drops by one normal block per use. Items can drop in place or be collected to you.
- Unbreakable blocks and every block with a block entity (chests, spawners, furnaces...) are always skipped.
- The bulk placement ON/OFF key defaults to `K`; the key that changes its depth direction defaults to `J` (forward -> right -> back -> left). There are also keys that open the Digway settings (default `:`), open the bulk placement settings (default `H`), and switch the bulk placement height direction (up / down; unbound by default).

## Diggable blocks
- Only blocks on the diggable block list are dug (natural terrain including cobblestone, cobbled deepslate and grass blocks, and sulfur / potent sulfur / cinnabar, by default).
- Rows have block icons and the list scrolls with the mouse wheel; remove a row with its "x" button ("Reset to default" is there too).
- Typing in the bar on top opens a chat-like candidate list: Tab / arrow keys select, Enter or a click adds. Start with `#` for a tag (e.g. `#minecraft:logs`), or include `*` for a pattern (e.g. `minecraft:*sulfur*`; the number of matching blocks is shown).

## Replace around
- "Replace around: ON/OFF" on the first page of the settings turns the whole feature on or off (OFF by default; OFF also disables the falling block fix, but liquids inside the dug area still become air).
- By default the lining blocks are taken from your inventory ("Lining blocks from: Inventory (auto)"): one usable block at a time, from the hotbar first, then the offhand, then the rest of the inventory from the top-left to the right and down to the bottom-right. Only the kinds of blocks that can be chosen as lining blocks are used, and if you carry too few the dig is cancelled with a message. Switch to "Chosen block" to use the block set per face (then "Replace cost" is free or used up, default used up; "free" can only be chosen in a world with commands allowed or in creative mode: otherwise the cost row is shown in grey with a warning under the buttons, it cannot be switched to "free", and a "free" left in the config is treated as used up). In creative mode the chosen block is used at no cost.
- The wall layer reaches one block further up and down, so the cells where a wall meets the ceiling or the floor follow the wall settings.
- The one-block layer around the dug area can be replaced with a chosen block (stone by default). On the "Replace around settings..." screen the arrow buttons switch between ceiling, walls, floor and end, and each face has its own settings:
  - Mode: OFF / Liquids only / ON (default: Liquids only). "Liquids only" replaces just water and lava so they cannot flow in; "ON" replaces every diggable block too (for decoration).
  - Block: picked by clicking its icon in a grid; typing opens a candidate list under the search bar like the chat command suggestions (Tab / arrow keys select, Enter or a click chooses).
  - Facing: default / forward / back / left / right (relative to the dig direction) / north / east / south / west / up / down. Step with the arrows or click the button for a list.
  - Top / bottom: default / bottom / top / double (slabs only).
- Only natural full blocks and building blocks (slabs, stairs, walls, fences, trapdoors, glass, panes...) are offered. Ores, bedrock, plants, crops, beds, coral, melons / pumpkins, budding amethyst, functional blocks (respawn anchor, crafting / smithing tables, pistons, note blocks, observers, targets, redstone blocks, magma blocks), ice, leaves and falling blocks (sand, gravel...) are not.
- It is done before digging. Replaced blocks are removed without drops. A liquid cell that gets a non-full block (slab, stairs...) is cleared to air first. Kelp and seagrass in the dug area are removed together with their water; in the lining they are replaced by the lining block.
- Cost is either free or taken from your inventory.
- Falling blocks (sand, gravel...) directly above the tunnel (the end face when digging up) are replaced as well, with the ceiling block, regardless of the face modes, so they cannot collapse into it (can be turned off; only blocks on the diggable list).

## Bulk placement
- A separate feature from "Replace around". When ON, placing a block also places the same block over an area: from the placed block, "depth" blocks in the depth direction (forward = the way you face, by default) and "height" blocks in the height direction (up by default). Width is fixed to 1.
- At most 64 blocks in total (depth x height). It uses the blocks you hold and stops when they run out (nothing is used in creative). A cell that cannot take the block (a block, an entity...) counts as an obstacle: with "Stop at obstacles" ON (default) placing stops there, both in depth and in height; with it OFF, obstacles are skipped and placing goes on.
- Toggle it on the first page of the settings or with its key (default `K`). On the "Bulk placement settings..." screen you choose the directions (depth: forward / back / left / right, height: up / down) and type the depth and height (default 4 and 3, forward and up, OFF at first). For a straight row sideways, set the depth direction to left or right and the height to 1.
- A non-full block (slab, stairs...) placed where there is water is first set to air and then placed without water.
- Two-part blocks (beds, doors) and blocks with a block entity are not supported.
