Magic Utility & QoL

A mod that focuses on introducing curses that aren't too debilitating.

In vanilla and in many modpacks, if equipment has curses on it, it'll never be worn or used. Curse of Binding? More like "bound to my storage chest until I smelt it into a nugget"

This mod hopes to redesign curses to shape player behavior instead of turning equipment into undesired oddities.

We begin with the concept of fears - something everyone has but lives with in their day to day. In a way, all of us have our own curses and we all continue to trek forward regardless of those curses.

The main introduction for this mod is the effect of Fear. Fear comes in many forms, and when it is stronger, it is more debilitating. Here, fear reduces the user's mobility, protection, and can induce random failings in vision.

This mod contains:

Curse of Thanatos: This will make hitting Skeletons with melee attacks inflict darkness for a short while.

Shellshocked: Being attacked by a Creeper can cause a debilitating effect of blindness and slowness for a short while, inflicting a strong sense of fear to the user.

Arachnophobia: After being attacked by a spider, the user is inflicted with fear for a duration.

Necrophobia: Zombies don't normally seem so bad, but deep under ground, any undead that strike you inflict fear upon you.

Hadephobia: The user becomes more clumsy in the nether, and any damage taken there can potentially set them alight or leave them with the fear affliction.

Thalassophobia: Taking drowning damage in water below Y of 50 can induce fear on the user.

Astrophobia: You're particularly jumpy in The End. Should you take damage of any sort while in The End, there's a chance you'll find yourself rattled with fear.

Curse of Searing: Fire is a force you cannot fight off. If you catch fire with Fire Resistance active, you'll find the potion effect wears off entirely.

Curse of Constitution: If a blow reduces your health too low, you'll find yourself winded and afflicted with hunger.

Curse of Bad Knees: Be careful with your jumps - take too much fall damage and you'll find yourself fairly immobilized for a brief period.

Curse of the Victorian: With a fragile immune system, you find your body incapable of fighting off poison. It won't kill you, but it won't go away on its own.

Curse of Withering: Wither is a fairly uncommon effect, but being afflicted with it will sap you of your speed and strength.

Curse of Nightmares: After sleeping, you'll find yourself worn and unrested. But at times, you'll find they seep into your risen realities, inflicting terror upon your waking hours for a short while.
