Bestiary Unbound — The White Veil · V0.3 Beta
The snow is silent. Its sovereign is not.
The depths had their monster. The wilds had their voice. Far into the snow, something larger keeps a nest of its own.
Track Vaelrime into a frozen nest walled in by mountains, survive its hunt, and forge two pieces of equipment from its trophies.

A hunter that reshapes the battlefield.
Health: 520
Armor: 12
Location: Frozen Nest, snowy Overworld biomes
Vaelrime is a colossal, wingless hunter that reshapes the battlefield with ice. Walls and pillars close off your escape routes, while charges and frost breath reach you at range. Up close, watch its claws, jaws, and tail.
At half health, the White Veil falls. Ramparts rise around its body and burst outward, and a frost fog rolls across the nest. Inside the fog, Vaelrime moves faster and slowly mends its wounds, while the cold drags at your steps.

When the fog rolls in, its eyes burn.
Then the hunt chains together: a vault into a claw strike and a rising tail sweep. If the tail throws you into the air, expect it to follow.
Search igloo basement chests for a Frozen Nest Survey. Not every chest holds one, and not every igloo has a basement. Use the survey in the Overworld to mark the nearest nest with a red X.

An igloo basement keeps the way.
Nests form in snowy plains, ice spikes, snowy slopes, groves, and snowy taigas. In existing worlds, explore new chunks to find them. Approach a nest in Survival or Adventure, on any difficulty above Peaceful, to wake its sovereign.

A nest walled in by mountains.

Hold the line against the cold.
Strike while blocking to raise a rampart of ice. Strike again and it cracks, then flies at your enemies. The shattering ice holds whatever it hits in place.

Raise the wall.

Crack it.

Send it forward.

Scale, frost, and a shield that bites back.

3 Scales · 1 Frost Core · 2 Blue Ice · 1 Shield
Use it to spread the White Veil around you. Inside the veil you move and strike faster, while your enemies slow. With a shield in hand, crouch to use it.

The veil answers with a pack of its own.

4 Scales · 1 Frost Core · 2 Blue Ice · 1 Diamond Hoe
Defeat Vaelrime to claim 1 Frost Core, 4–6 Vaelrime Scales, 4–6 Blue Ice, and 12–18 Packed Ice. One Frost Core per victory. Choose your first craft.

Bestiary Unbound — Call of the Wild · V0.2 Beta
Follow the echo. Earn your place in the pack.
The depths had their monster. The wilds have a voice of their own.
Follow an echo into the highlands. Meet a pack at the edge of the dunes. This chapter brings two new creatures—and two very different ways to earn a place beside them.
Among highland stone pillars, Resonance Birds guard their nests in small family groups. Their calls rebound through the rocks. Cover may break your line of sight, but it won't always stop the next echo.

A family, a nest, and a call carried through stone.
A companion begins with an egg. Bring one to a sheltered place and watch the shell crack. The chick imprints on its keeper, grows, and joins the journey.

From a sheltered egg to the first steps of a companion.
Send your bird ahead, leave it on watch, or follow the trail of a chosen quarry. Brief echoes reveal nearby threats—even those your eyes have missed.

The rocks hide a threat. Its echo gives it away.
Your companion, your orders. Choose what it detects, where it goes, and how it responds to danger. Scouting and combat attitude are separate choices.

Choose detection filters, orders, combat attitude, and a guard anchor.
The open desert belongs to more than wandering travelers. Dunereavers live and hunt in packs, with an alpha directing the hunt. Watch the whole pack; a lone target can quickly become a surrounding threat.

One quarry. More than one set of jaws.
The last survivor fights differently. When every other member of its pack has fallen, the surviving alpha enters a frenzy. Clear the pack first and you trade several foes for one furious leader. Bring down the alpha first and its surviving followers briefly scatter—but reaching it means facing the pack. Choose your opening—and keep a route out.

When the alpha answers with fury, give it room.
Trust is earned over several nights. Wear a full set of Dunereaver Hunter armor, join the hunt, share an offering, and stand with the pack against its rivals. An eventual duel with the alpha settles your place among them.

The offering is accepted. Stand watch while the pack eats.
Each evening grants one attempt. A failed trial spends that night's chance, too. Return prepared.

The pact keeps its own record: watch over the pack's meal.
Win their acceptance, ride the alpha, and lead the pack toward your next quarry. You may enter the dunes alone; you need not leave them that way.
Stitch Dunereaver hide with its spines, set an alpha's fang into the hood, and bind its core to the chestplate. A full Hunter set is your first step toward the pack: it lets you approach a pack that has no reason to distrust you. Strike first, and that disguise will no longer protect you from that pack.

Four pieces. One complete disguise.
Collect Dunereaver hide to unlock all four recipes in the crafting book. Gather 17 hide, 5 spines, 1 alpha fang, and 1 alpha core for the complete set. The armor opens the way; the nightly trials earn your place.
Forge the bow from an alpha's core and fang, resonance bones, and a familiar bow. Ordinary and tipped arrows retain their usual effects. Resonance arrows add another route: off the stone and into the hunt.

Forging the Pack Hunt Bow.
Resonance arrows: one resonance bone and four ordinary arrows make four resonance arrows. The ingredients can be arranged freely in the crafting grid.

One resonance bone. Four arrows. Four new paths through stone.
Land a fully drawn resonance arrow directly to mark your quarry. Your next fully drawn shots can bend toward that mark after a ricochet, while your pack closes in. Make the first arrow count.

Make the first arrow count. The hunt now has a mark.
Off the stone, back to the quarry.
Ricochet I–III adds more bounces, each at the cost of damage. Resonance arrows also bounce from other bows and crossbows, without the guided follow-up. Infinity does not remove their ammunition cost.

The mine was abandoned. Its deepest chamber was not.
The first beta introduces Lithaculeus, the Crystal Scourge—a colossal crystal-armored scorpion lurking beneath an abandoned desert mine.

Health: 700
Armor: 18 → 9 in Phase 2
Location: Abandoned Crystal Mine, Overworld desert
Lithaculeus controls the arena with crystal eruptions, sweeping claws, charges, and a pursuing beam. Its attacks apply Crystal Erosion, slowing movement and setting up Fracture for devastating follow-up damage.
At half health, its armor weakens, but it moves faster and recovers more quickly between attacks. Read its movements, keep an escape route open, and prepare for pressure at any distance.

Discover a rare sandstone entrance and descend through abandoned passages into a vast crystal chamber. Search its supply caches and forgotten relics before confronting the creature below.

Surveys found in abandoned mineshaft loot lead you to the mine. Entering the arena in Survival or Adventure begins the awakening.

Defeat Lithaculeus to claim its Tail Stinger, Crystalline Heart, and Carapaces. Combine these trophies with a Netherite Trident to forge Lithoclast.

Charge into battle with a crystal dash, build erosion through its explosions, and fracture those stacks with melee attacks.

Lithaculeus’s attacks inflict Crystal Erosion, a stacking effect that slows you down and leaves you vulnerable to Fracture. Avoid repeated hits—letting erosion build makes escaping its next attack harder.
Lithoclast turns this power against your enemies: its crystal explosions build erosion, and melee strikes fracture those stacks for additional damage.
