Inventory Weight turns your inventory into something you actually have to manage. The more you carry, the slower you become!
Every item has a weight value based on its type and quantity. Your entire inventory is checked continuously, and carrying too much will progressively increase your Slowness level.
Choose how punishing you want your inventory to be and try to balance your gear, resources, and supplies!
Choose and install only one version:
Armor, tools, and weapons weigh almost nothing regardless of their material. A fully-geared player can carry a reasonable amount of blocks, food, and supplies without being slowed down.
The balanced default. A complete loadout reaches up to Slowness II, making inventory management matter without being too restrictive.
Gear and materials weigh noticeably more. A complete loadout can already reach Slowness III, for players who want inventory weight to have a bigger impact on gameplay.
Download one of the three versions from the Files tab.
Make sure you install only one version at a time.
Place the downloaded .zip file into your server's world/datapacks/ folder.
Return to Minecraft and use /reload, or restart the server.
The datapack is now installed and ready to play!
⚠️ Important: The three versions use the same namespace and are not compatible with each other. Only install one at a time.
💡 Tip: You can check that the datapack is loaded with
/datapack list.
Inventory Weight is fully data-driven through item tags.
Item weights can be customized by editing the following files:
data/weight/tags/item/tier_1.json
data/weight/tags/item/tier_2.json
...
data/weight/tags/item/tier_10.json
This allows you to easily reclassify items and create your own custom weight system.
The current item classification is a first pass. If an item's weight feels out of place, feel free to report it and it can be adjusted in a future update.
