The half of ChaosLoop a datapack cannot do. For Paper.
On Fabric? ChaosLoop for Fabric is this same half for that server software, with the datapack built in. Use one or the other, never both.
A datapack on 1.20.1 cannot read a player's inventory back out, cannot fetch a skin, and cannot delete a world. This does those and hands the results back over a scoreboard.
Paper 1.20.1. The datapack is what you actually want — this on its own does very little.
The vault. A minigame should be the same game for everybody. Whatever you are carrying is held at the door and given back at the end, prizes on top; anything that will not fit is dropped at your feet rather than deleted. Your walkie-talkie stays with you, because being unable to talk is not a fair fight.
Graves. Die and your things wait in a chest at the spot, not on the floor for twelve minutes. More than an inventory's worth becomes a double chest. Sneak and right-click one and it empties in a single movement: the strongest armour in there goes on, everything else comes with you, and your bag is sorted on the way past. Whatever will not fit stays in the chest.
It installs the datapack. The matching version is inside the jar and is written into <world>/datapacks the first time the server starts. Nothing to download, nothing to enable. It never overwrites a ChaosLoop pack you already have.
Skins on an offline server. An offline-mode server builds a profile from a name and no textures, so everybody is Steve and every player head is blank. The skin is looked up by name and put on the profile as you log in — the same lookup that gives the mimics their faces.
/restore, for when something goes wrong nobody predicted. What everybody had and where they were is written down every minute, and again the instant before anything takes an inventory away.
/restore <name> all lastevent what they walked into the game with /restore <name> inv 5m their inventory five minutes ago /restore all pos 3m everybody at once /restore <name> all undo take a restore back
A restore snapshots the current state first, so a wrong minute is itself undoable.
Finding your way back. /graves lists every grave you have left standing — overworld, Nether and End — with how far away each one is, and it is kept on disk so a restart does not lose them. /back returns you to the spot you last died on, once per death and never mid-minigame: it is there for the portal that put you inside a wall, not to save you the walk.
Mimics. Hostile mobs wearing your friends' skins and names, fetched live. They hunt, they gather, and they are exactly as unsettling as that sounds.
World reset. /chaosloop reset confirm deletes and regenerates the world, optionally on a seed you name. Everybody waits in a sealed room while it happens.
The Chronicle. When the dragon falls, a written book for each player: leaderboard, per-player stats, ore counters, a clickable contents page.
Walkie-talkies. Craftable, tuneable, audible at any distance to anybody on the same frequency. Needs Simple Voice Chat — optional. Without it the radios craft and tune and simply carry no sound; nothing else changes.
1. ChaosLoop-Plugin-1.0.0.jar into plugins/ 2. The ChaosLoop datapack into world/datapacks/ 3. Restart, then /function chaosloop:setup
