Description

Weather2 for 1.20.1 is now live!

Tell your friends! :D

Key notes for 1.20.1:

  • The 1.20.1 version sees the return of the Wind Vane, Anemometer, and Sensor Block!
  • Forecast block outputs more info about tornado spawn chances in the area.
  • Tornado spawning fixes that should hopefully make them more frequent!
  • Spawnable firenados!
  • Latest version 2.7.7 is now compatible with Optifine and Rubidium shaders!* (See FAQ for more info)

FAQ:

  • 1.16?
There are no plans to backport to 1.16. The mod Weather 2 Remastered has tentative plans for this, and are officially endorsed by Corosus.
  • 1.19?
There are no plans to backport to 1.19 at this time.
  • Fabric?
There are no plans to port to Fabric currently.
  • NeoForge?
    Yes!
  • Modrinth?
    Yes!
  • Are you going to add x feature back? This block doesn't work!
Some features have been easier to port than others. Blocks like the Radar and Forecast have been particularly challenging due to changes in vanilla, but if we can fix and bring them back, we will! They currently DO NOT WORK in 1.18 and 1.20.
There are no plans to bring the EZ Config back, this feature has been retired, sorry!
  • Is Weather compatible with x mod?
Mod compatibilities are still works-in-progress, the best way to find out would be to test it and let us know how it goes! That way you can help us identify the issues you find and investigate possible fixes more swiftly. Please tell us which version of the other mod you are using, this helps a lot.
  • I'm using shaders and the snowstorms look different/weird?
While we were able to make Weather compatible with shaders and prevent crashes, Oculus changes a critical part that the snowstorm fog effect relied on. We don't think this is fixable, and losing this feature for the sake of functionality may have to be a compromise for now. We'll keep trying, though!

New Features in 1.18+

  • Improved tornado funnel appearance, able to spin much faster now, looks way more menacing and twisty when forming.
  • Particle driven flying blocks for smoother performance and more visuals.
  • Blizzards with snow buildup.
  • Small dust particles in the air and on dirt/sand/snow to better show off the wind.
  • Lightning rod support for local storms lightning.
  • Mobs now receive slow falling buff upon tornado death to avoid killing off all the wildlife.
  • Tornado deflector uses Minecraft's new POI system, resulting in the block actually pushing tornadoes away from the area, and makes sure no entities or blocks are harmed while doing so.

Changes in 1.18+

  • Sandstorms are a bit simpler for now, similar to snowstorms until they are further refined.
  • Hail and flying blocks are a particle now for smoother performance.
  • You will feel the wind resistance in sandstorms and snowstorms.
  • Much nicer entity grabbing for tornado.
  • EZ Config has been retired.

Coming Soon

  • Weather machine, forecast block, radar
  • Hail causing damage to player.
  • Player fall damage from tornado grabbing.
  • Optimized particle shader rendering that vastly improves performance.
  • Hurricanes to be revamped.
  • Foliage shaders.

==========================================================================

Please bear in mind that the new update for 1.18 is a beta release and there may still be some bugs to be ironed out and features to be re-added.

If you are experiencing crashes, please be sure to upload your crash log text to Pastebin and send us the link so we can investigate. Without this information we can't look into it for you!

Rest assured we're keeping a close eye on any issues and will be pushing fixes when possible.

Thank you all for your incredible support over the years! <3
