Voidhearted Is a mod inspired by a Particular Medtroidvania with a Liminal twist. When the player dies, there is a small chance the player will spawn a Shade, the player's lost shadow and experience personified. Once the shade is slain, it has a chance to drop 1-3 Shadow Essence, which may be Crafted into Several things which you the player must Uncover the recipies of. A device known as the anomolator can be crafted from shadow essence which may allow you to enter the purgatory Dimension: The line between life and death.
