A NeoForge 1.21.1 mod that adds a Quark-style vertical slab for every slab any installed mod registers — wood, stone, brick, any material. Drop it into a pack and every modded slab gains a vertical variant, with no per-mod configuration.
At load time the mod scans the block registry for slabs and registers a matching vertical slab for each one, using Moonlight Lib's late-registration hook (the same mechanism Every Compat uses) so the whole modded registry is visible before scanning.
For each generated slab:
If any other mod already provides a vertical slab for a material — Quark itself, Every Compat's wood types, StoneZone's stone types, anything ending in _vertical_slab — this mod skips that material. Installed alongside those mods it fills only the gaps they leave.
Genuine vanilla slabs are skipped (Quark covers them), but the check is against the actual vanilla block list of the running Minecraft version — not the namespace. Mods that register their blocks under minecraft: for save-compat reasons (e.g. Vanilla Backport's cinnabar, sulfur, and resin brick slabs) are treated like any other modded blocks and get vertical slabs automatically.
Blocks register under the v_slab_compat namespace with the same id pattern as MehVahdJukaar's Vertical Slabs Compat (last released for 1.20.1): v_slab_compat:<parent_namespace>/<name>_vertical_slab. Worlds and structure files built with the original resolve seamlessly.
This is an independent clean-room implementation — none of the original's code or assets were used — and it is not affiliated with or endorsed by MehVahdJukaar. If the official v_slab_compat mod is ever installed alongside this one, this mod detects it and registers nothing, so the two can never conflict.
One niche limitation: worlds that ran the original without Quark used v_slab_compat:<vanilla>_vertical_slab ids for vanilla materials; this mod requires Quark, which provides vanilla vertical slabs under its own ids, so those specific ids are not recreated.
| Option | Default | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| skipped_mods | [] | Namespaces to skip entirely |
| skipped_blocks | ["amendments:carpet_slab"] | Exact block ids to skip (e.g. dynamically-rendered slabs with no usable model) |
| force_generate | [] | Block ids to ALWAYS generate — overrides every skip list and the duplicate check |
| max_registrations | -1 | Cap on generated slabs; -1 = unlimited |
| log_registered | false | One log line per generated slab (useful for building skip lists) |
| emit_stonecutter_recipes | true | 1:1 stonecutter recipes between slab and vertical slab |
List options are read at game start; edits apply on the next launch.
