Upgrade Expansion aims to add a new way of upgrading your iron tools and armor. In the 1.20 Trails & Tales Update, smithing tables got a large overhaul with Smithing Templates. Now, you have to find a Netherite Upgrade to improve your diamond utilities.
This mod will integrate the smithing system into upgrading your iron tools to diamond. Using a new Diamond Upgrade dropped from an iron golem 100% of the time, you can insert it into the smithing table along with your chosen iron tool / armor and a diamond to create your new diamond tools. This will drop the price of 35 diamonds for a full set of armor and tools to a much cheaper 9 diamonds if used. It will even work on horse armor if you really want to waste a diamond lol.
Another upgrade has been added to further improve netherite tools (only tools, not armor). The Gilded Upgrade is crafted with 6 netherite ingots in the top 3 and bottom 3 crafting slots, a Netherite Upgrade in the center, and the two left and right middle slots filled in with gilded blackstone. This will craft one Gilded Upgrade, meaning the price is pretty steep to achieve more power. But it gets even steeper...
A new ingot, called a Gilded Netherite Ingot, is crafted with a netherite ingot and 4 gold ingots in a shapeless formation in the crafting grid. This will grant one Gilded Netherite Ingot, which can be used in a smithing table with a Gilded Upgrade and a netherite TOOL of your choice to gild it, improving the overall stats of the utility.
