Description

Unearthed Journey is a mod that adds 3 dimensions of Cenozoic content to the game! Including over 30+
highly detailed animals, 4 new woodsets, 2 new ores, and a highly detailed and challenging bossfight.
Each dimension is split up into Formations. Formations act as biomes, and are realistic depictions of the life that once existed in them. This means that the plants, animals, and structures in each biome are true to their prehistoric counterparts, giving players a uniquely realistic prehistoric experience!

Guide
Below are several guides for the mod! Including information on time travel, and some other features.

Time Travel
To begin, the player must locate the temple to methuselah. The temple can only be found in jungle biomes, and is often located thousands of blocks from spawn. Although not a requirement, the Nature's Compass mod is highly recommended to make locating the structure easy.
Once inside, the player will find several chambers with dangerous monsters and mid-game loot. These chambers end in a lower boss chamber, which is where players can find...

Methuselah
The gatekeeper to time traversal, Methuselah is a difficult boss fight even for experienced players. It is recommended to gear up with diamond armor and weapons, including a good ranged weapon to take it out. Upon death, Methuselah drops its eye, a necessary item for what comes next.

Forgotten Portals
Forgotten portals can be found all across the overworld. They contain some hidden loot, as well as the blocks necessary for time travel. Each portal has random portal corners, which determine the dimension that the portal leads to. Portal corners can be found in these portals, and in loot chests in the temple. The player must ensure all four corners correspond to the dimension they wish to travel to, and that the sides of the portal are completed with archstone pillars. Using the Eye of Methuselah, the player can then activate the portal and step into the past.

Other Guides
Using JEI is highly recommended while playing Uneathed Journey. There are many interesting new items and blocks with recipes that can only be found in JEI, but there are some blocks with uses not explained by JEI, and will instead be explained here...

Peat
Found in the Paleogene and Neogene dimensions, peat is an abundant new fuel source, but some work is required to make it useful. Mining peat yields Peat much in the same way that clay does. These peat items can be crafted back into blocks for decoration, or into a Peat Pie. Placing the peat pie on the ground starts a timer that lasts for twenty minutes. After twenty minutes, it becomes a visibly different Dried Peat Pie. This can then be mined and used as a very efficient fuel for furnaces, smokers, and blast furnaces.

Lead
Lead is a new ore found in all three cenozoic dimensions. It is largely decorational, with a uniquely blast-proof property in all of its building blocks.

Manganese Steel
Raw manganese can now be found rarely in the Pleistocene dimension only. It can be turned into an ingot by smelting a Manganese Steel Blend, crafted with raw iron, manganese, and silicate (obtained from chert, a common white stone found in the Pleistocene and Neogene). Manganese steel can then be crafted into an armor set that protects the wearer from cold damage; and a satchel that acts as an in-inventory back pack. It can also be crafted into a Rock Pick, which mines obsidian and archstone efficiently.

Platypodium Seed Pods
Obtained commonly from platypodium leaves found in the Neogene dimension, seed pods can be placed on any ground block to spawn a small version of Platypodium elegans. These are an easy and mess-free way of farming legume logs, as leaves in Unearthed Journey do not break naturally.

Pouches
Crafted with a pelt, (a common drop from small mammals), and either grass or seeds, pouches can be used to either tame or breed herbivorous animals. Currently, several animals are breedable, which are up to you to discover, while one is tameable...

Leptictidium
Currently the only tame in the mod, leptictidium is quite the useful critter. Found in the Messel Pit formation of the Paleogene dimension, these small trunk-nosed creatures are easily suaded by a seed pouch. Once tamed, they can be bred with seed pouches, and made to sit with a right-click. When shift-right-clicked, leptictidium will play a digging animation, unearthing several useful, or useless items. This ability will then go on cooldown for two minutes.
