Timber Physics Plus is a native NeoForge tree-felling mod for Minecraft 1.21+ that adds physics-driven tree destruction.
Instead of instantly breaking into dropped items, trees physically fall in the direction the player is looking. Logs follow a natural kinematic trajectory, while leaves are detected and handled separately to preserve the structure of the surrounding forest.
The mod is written entirely in Java and does not require datapacks or marker entities.
allowMixedLeaves disabled, only leaves matching the tree's primary leaf type are collected. Leaves belonging to adjacent trees of another species remain untouched.persistent=false) can be felled. Player-built structures, decorative logs, cabins, roofs, and placed leaf blocks are protected.config/timber_physics_plus.toml.Timber Physics Plus uses standard Minecraft log and leaf tags to support a wide range of tree types without requiring individual integrations.
Nether tree support can be disabled in the configuration.
Huge mushroom physics can be disabled in the configuration.
Bamboo uses its own vertical falling physics and can be enabled or disabled independently.
The mod supports modded trees out of the box, including trees from:
Other mods using the standard #minecraft:logs or #c:logs tags are supported automatically.
All configuration options are available through the in-game Mods menu or config/timber_physics_plus.toml.
| Setting | Default | Description |
|---|---|---|
ignoreFallenLogs |
true |
Excludes logs already lying on solid ground from felling cascades. |
requireNaturalLeaves |
true |
Requires natural tree leaves and protects player-built structures. |
allowMixedTrunks |
false |
When disabled, only logs of the same species are felled together. |
allowCrossTreeBranches |
false |
When disabled, branches crossing between trees must match the tree's species. |
allowMixedLeaves |
false |
When disabled, only leaves matching the tree's primary leaf type are collected. |
enableVoronoiPartition |
true |
Uses 2D X/Z Voronoi partitioning to prevent leaves from nearby trees being collected. |
voronoiSearchRadius |
24 |
Horizontal block radius used to search for neighboring trunks during Voronoi calculations. |
logsDestroyLeaves |
true |
Allows falling logs to destroy leaves in their path. |
dropLogsOnLand |
false |
When enabled, fallen logs drop as items instead of being placed as blocks. |
leafShatterOnLand |
true |
Causes falling leaves to shatter into loot when they hit the ground. |
enableSneakToChopSingle |
true |
Allows Shift/Sneak to mine a single block without felling the tree. |
leafShatterPercent |
0 |
Percentage of leaves instantly shattered when the tree is chopped: 0%, 10%, 25%, 50%, or 100%. |
leafSearchRadius |
7 |
Maximum leaf flood-fill graph distance from tree branches, from 1 to 14. |
damageAxe |
false |
When enabled, axe durability is reduced for every log felled. |
enableNetherTrees |
true |
Enables physics-based felling for Crimson and Warped trees. |
enableBamboo |
true |
Enables vertical falling physics for bamboo. |
enableMushrooms |
true |
Enables physics-based felling for huge mushrooms. |
enableModdedTrees |
true |
Enables physics-based felling for modded trees. |
maxLogs |
300 |
Maximum number of logs that can be processed for a single tree, from 10 to 2000. |
maxLeaves |
1000 |
Maximum number of canopy leaves that can be scanned, from 50 to 5000. |
Timber Physics Plus is designed to handle large tree structures without relying on datapacks or marker entities. Tree and canopy detection are performed directly in Java, with configurable limits for the maximum number of logs and leaves processed during a single felling event.
