Spawn Selector lets new players choose a safe first spawn outside a village or another configured structure, facing the structure rather than spawning inside it.
The default configuration includes Village as its only option, using Minecraft's village structure tag. You can use village spawning immediately, or add other structures through configuration.
Players choose a structure type, then select one of its discovered instances. They can also skip selection and use vanilla spawning.
Built for Minecraft 1.20.1.
Install the same version on the server and all clients. Origins is optional.
Singleplayer and multiplayer flows are implemented. Multiplayer has not yet received complete dedicated-server and real multi-client regression testing. Automated capacity, persistence, and build checks have passed, but they do not replace full gameplay testing.
Support for modded structures depends on their world-generation setup. Unknown custom structure placements fall back to vanilla single-instance locating.
Structure filtering and biome viability ideas were independently adapted from BetterVillageSpawnPoint by TurboCrackers, whose referenced source is licensed under CC0-1.0.
Spawn Selector retains its own architecture and outside-spawn search; BetterVillageSpawnPoint's village-interior spawn search was not ported.
