Smooth Fix
Small fixes for a smoother modded experience.
Smooth Fix provides targeted client-side compatibility and stability patches for Minecraft 1.20.1 Fabric. Originally developed for Smooth Odyssey, it can also be used in other modpacks running the affected mods.
Included Fixes
- EMI Compat + Spell Engine: Skips EMI Compat’s outdated Spell Engine integration to avoid errors during recipe reloads. Other EMI Compat integrations remain active.
- EMI Loot + Tumbleweed: Prevents unsafe client-world random access when EMI Loot creates temporary Tumbleweed entities on its worker threads.
- Obscure API Tooltips: Prevents food-icon tooltip errors when non-food items pass through tooltip generation, including EMI search indexing.
- EMI Repair Recipes: Skips invalid generated repair recipes whose ingredients expose no matching item stacks, preventing errors during EMI reloads. Normal item repair behavior is preserved.
Installation
- Install Minecraft 1.20.1 with Fabric Loader 0.19.5 or newer.
- Install Fabric API and place Smooth Fix in your
mods folder.
- Launch the game.
Install Smooth Fix on the client. The current fixes do not require installation on a dedicated server.
The affected mods are optional. Each patch activates only when its target mods are installed.
Configuration
Each fix can be enabled or disabled independently in config/smooth_fix.json. All four fixes are enabled by default.
Restart the game after changing the configuration.
