This simple little mod nerfs and adjusts boat movement and qualities so that it is slightly more realsitic and challenging and provides relative opportunity cost boosts for other modes of transport in the Au Naturel modpack such as horses, minecarts, aircraft, trains, fast travel or even just overland foot travel and sprinting.
Before, boats were incredibly overpowered and unbalanced in minecraft, leading players to rely on them for exploration, avoiding overland routes, setting up and relying on exploration over water, and even relying on them for relative safety or trapping hostile mods.
This mod slows the relative speed of boats in the water to be slightly slower than relative traversal over land, and completely nerfs any movement mechanic on boats that are not on water (which should kill all thoughts of iceboats).
We are also attempting to implement a rule that ensures no mobs load into boats unless led there via a leash. This aims to stop players using boats to cheese various hostile mob interactions.
