Sleep Debt makes sleep matter again.
In vanilla Minecraft, sleep is mostly just a way to skip the night. This mod turns it into a small survival system: stay awake too long, and your character starts to feel it. Push through the exhaustion, use caffeine to keep going, hunt phantoms for better rewards, or actually sleep and wake up refreshed.
Simple idea. Better gameplay loop.
Sleep Debt adds a lightweight fatigue system built around insomnia, caffeine, beds, and phantoms.
If you avoid sleeping for too long, your sleep debt starts building up. The longer you stay awake, the worse the fatigue becomes. You can temporarily suppress it with coffee or an energy drink, but stimulants do not replace real sleep.
Eventually, you either rest properly or deal with the consequences.
Staying awake for too long causes fatigue to build up over time.
The system is designed to feel natural in survival gameplay. It does not constantly punish you for missing one night, but if you keep ignoring sleep, the effects become harder to deal with.
Coffee gives you a short burst of energy and temporarily suppresses sleep debt symptoms.
Coffee effects:
Coffee is crafted using roasted cocoa beans and a water bottle, giving cocoa beans a new practical use.

Energy Drink is stronger in the moment, but worse afterward.
It can help when you really need to keep moving, mining, or fighting, but once the effect ends, you crash.
After the Energy Drink ends:
It is useful, but it is not free power.

Sleeping in a bed rewards you with a Well Rested bonus in the morning.
The goal is simple: sleeping should feel like a good decision, not just a skipped night.
Phantoms become more than just annoying flying problems.
If you are sleep-deprived, phantoms drop extra membranes. This turns insomnia into a risk-reward choice: staying awake is dangerous, but it can also be useful if you are willing to deal with the consequences.
Golden apples can remove sleep debt completely.
This gives them another emergency survival use outside of combat and makes them valuable when you are far from a bed or stuck in a bad situation.
Sleep Debt includes JEI integration, so recipes and item information are easy to find in-game.
The mod currently adds:
Sleep Debt is made for players who want survival to feel a little more alive without turning the game into a hardcore punishment simulator.
It fits well into:
Stay awake too long, and fatigue builds up.
Use coffee to push through.
Use an energy drink if you are desperate.
Hunt phantoms for extra membranes.
Sleep when the risk stops being worth it.
Wake up refreshed and keep going.
Sleep Debt is designed to stay lightweight and close to vanilla survival.
JEI support is included for better recipe visibility, but the core mechanics are simple and should fit into most Forge modpacks without needing complicated setup.
