Sewers have been purged of these pests and have started to roam the world.
They are hungry, and on the lookout for food. They will eat everything and spread everywhere. Keep them in check before they overrun your world.
They will go after any and all sources of food, wherever you hide it. So make sure you make it unreachable for them. Devise traps, lures and other means to dispose of them. They are a pest and should be eradicated.
Basically, this adds a little challenge to your survival game. If you wish to play this on hard mode, ignore them for a while, allow the populations to grow. They will not grow babies if there are more than a 100 rats within a 8 chunks to prevent your computers from frying.
