# Rotten Flesh Compost
Rotten Flesh is the one mob drop you always have too much of and can do almost nothing with. This mod makes it useful: **drop it into a Composter and it works like any other food item — a 65% chance to add one compost layer** (same tier as carrots, potatoes and melons).
## Features
- Rotten Flesh is compostable at a **0.65** success chance.
- **Nothing else changes.** All vanilla compostable items keep their exact values — this mod only adds one entry.
- **No configuration, no commands, no new blocks or items.** One tiny data file does the whole job.
- Works in singleplayer and on servers; packs only ~13 KB.
## Installation
1. Install **NeoForge for Minecraft 1.21.1**.
2. Drop the jar into your `mods` folder.
3. That's it — right-click a Composter with Rotten Flesh.
**Multiplayer:** install it on the **server**. Clients do not need it — the values are synced automatically, so players without the mod still see the correct behaviour.
## Customising the chance
The mod is driven entirely by NeoForge's `compostables` data map, so you can override it without touching the jar: put a file at
```
data/neoforge/data_maps/item/compostables.json
```
inside a **world datapack** (data pack format `48`) and set whatever chance you like:
```json
{
"values": {
"minecraft:rotten_flesh": { "chance": 0.65 }
}
}
```
Setting `"can_villager_compost": true` additionally lets farmer villagers compost it themselves.
## Why is the jar so small?
Since 1.21.1, NeoForge no longer reads `ComposterBlock.COMPOSTABLES` — composting is data-driven. So the correct implementation is a single data map file, not code. (Which also means the old `ComposterBlock.COMPOSTABLES.put(...)` trick you'll find in older tutorials silently does nothing on this version.)
## Compatibility
- Minecraft **1.21.1**, NeoForge **21.1.0+**
- No mixins, no coremods, no other mod dependencies — should be compatible with everything
- Modpacks are welcome to include it
## License
MIT — do whatever you like with it.
