Useless items like poisonous potatoes can now be turned into baked potatos. You can use dead bushes to make podzol and a heart of the sea to make a diamond. Horse armour is now craftable as well as a saddle. There is one more item: salad, you can craft it with a bowl, a carrot, kelp and a lily of the valley. If you eat it you get one level of experience. It is a small but great addition to improve some vanilla elements.
