the obsidian sword starts of weak but as you add more obsidian to it gets slight lightly slower and stronger until you compact it and make it smaller with less damage and a lot more speed where you upgrade it to a normal sword and then you have to go and get a bunch of obsidian to get a super sword which costs so much obsidian that you want auto crafting from refined storage to get its upgrade matirel and put the obsidian sword and the chunk of obsidian in a smiting table to get the obsidian super sword.
