Tired of Minecraft’s plain old bat? It’s time to bring caves and forests to life with five unique bat species, each with its own appearance, habitat, and diet. Plus, Mojang’s classic bat reskin is back, adding even more variety to the game.
Desmodus rotundus (Vampire Bat) spawns in swamps, savannas, and savanna plateaus (in caves) and eats pumpkin pie and figs from Ficus carica trees. Pteropus (Flying Fox Bat) appears in mangrove swamps, bamboo jungles, jungles, and sparse jungles (in caves) with the same diet. Craseonycteris (Bumblebee Bat), the smallest bat in Minecraft, can be found in bamboo jungles, jungles, sparse jungles, mangrove swamps, and swamps (in caves), also eating pumpkin pie and figs. The Classic Bat now has a diet and spawns in birch forests, dark forests, flower forests, forests, old growth birch forests, windswept forests, dripstone caves, and lush caves, feeding on pumpkin pie. Hypsignathus (Hammer-Headed Bat) lives in mangrove swamps, jungles, sparse jungles, savannas, savanna plateaus, and windswept savannas, eating pumpkin pie and figs.
This update also adds a new fruit: figs! Found in Ficus carica trees, which generate in plains, windswept hills, and windswept gravelly hills, they can be harvested like sweet berries by right-clicking. You can even use bone meal to speed up tree growth.
