MCNesclick is a collection of small, vanilla-friendly additions by MrNesClick: the kind of things you didn't know you were missing until you try them. Everything is tuned from a single config file, and more is on the way.
Cook a regular apple to get a cooked apple. It restores 8 hunger points (4 drumsticks) and 12 saturation, much more than a raw apple (4 hunger, 2.4 saturation).
| Block | Time | XP | Enabled by default |
|---|---|---|---|
| Furnace | 10 s | 0.35 | yes |
| Smoker | 5 s | 0.35 | yes |
| Campfire | 30 s | 0.35 | yes |
| Blast furnace | 5 s | 0.35 | no (vanilla never cooks food in a blast furnace) |
The cooked apple is in the "Food & Drinks" creative tab (or "Foodstuffs" before 1.19.3).
Configurable: each cooking method, hunger and saturation.
Surround a golden apple with 8 emeralds. Eat it before a trading session: Hero of the Village (cheaper trades) and Luck for 5 minutes. Always edible, it restores 4 hunger and 9.6 saturation like a golden apple.
E E E
E G E E = emerald, G = golden apple
E E E
Configurable: recipe, hunger, saturation and effects.
The next step: an emerald apple with 4 diamonds and 4 amethyst shards around it. Eat it before a mining trip: Haste II and Night Vision for 5 minutes.
A D A
D E D A = amethyst shard, D = diamond, E = emerald apple

Configurable: recipe, hunger, saturation and effects.
A lit campfire stops hostile mobs from spawning naturally around it: 16 blocks around and 8 blocks above and below by default, so a campfire in your base does not protect a whole cave underneath. Mobs that walk in are not pushed away, and monster spawners keep working unless you enable it.
Configurable: radius, height, soul campfires, unlit campfires, spawners and excluded mobs.
Oak and dark oak leaves drop apples 0.5 % of the time by default, like vanilla, and you can let every other kind of leaves drop apples too. As in vanilla, shears and Silk Touch give no apples, and Fortune increases the chance.
Configurable: chance for oak and dark oak, other leaves and their chance.
On first launch the mod creates config/mcnesclick.toml:
[cooked_apple]
furnace = true
blast_furnace = false
smoker = true
campfire = true
hunger = 8
saturation = 12.0
[emerald_apple]
enabled = true
hunger = 4
saturation = 9.6
effects = ["minecraft:hero_of_the_village 300 1", "minecraft:luck 300 1"]
[diamond_apple]
enabled = true
hunger = 4
saturation = 9.6
effects = ["minecraft:haste 300 2", "minecraft:night_vision 300 1"]
[apple_drops]

oak_chance = 0.5
dark_oak_chance = 0.5
other_leaves = false
other_chance = 0.25
[campfire_protection]
enabled = true
radius = 16
vertical_radius = 8
require_lit = true
soul_campfire = true
affect_spawners = false
excluded_mobs = []
Every setting is commented in the file. Recipes and effects apply with /reload or when the world/server restarts; hunger and saturation apply after a game/server restart. Effects are written "effect_id seconds level" (level 1 = I) and any effect works, modded ones too. On a server, the server's config is the one that counts (players should use the same food values so the tooltip matches).
Every recipe is a standard data-pack recipe, so you can replace it with a data pack, KubeJS or CraftTweaker without any extra mod:
| Recipe id | What |
|---|---|
mcnesclick:emerald_apple |
emerald apple (crafting table) |
mcnesclick:diamond_apple |
diamond apple (crafting table) |
mcnesclick:cooked_apple_from_smelting, _from_smoking, _from_campfire_cooking, _from_blasting |
cooked apple |
A data pack overrides one by putting a file at data/mcnesclick/recipe/<id>.json (recipes/ before 1.21). Hunger, saturation and effects come from config/mcnesclick.toml: ship your own copy with the pack.
