Living Horizon
Gives life to the distance. Mobs and players are drawn on top of the far terrain of Voxy and Distant Horizons, which was not possible before, and they are drawn in an optimized way, so the horizon stays alive without costing frames. Birds bring the sky to life too. Client-side, on any server.
It works on vanilla too. Play with the render distance and the simulation distance at their minimum and still see a living world: animals, villagers and other players keep living on the horizon.
⚠️ This is a beta, so expect bugs.
It runs on Fabric, Quilt, NeoForge and Forge, on Minecraft 1.20 to 1.21.11 and 26.1 to 26.3. I mainly play on 1.21.11 with Voxy, and it works there. I haven't tested every combination, so some may break.
Found a bug? Tell me how it runs on your setup!

Getting started
- Install the file of your game version and loader (see Requirements). Voxy and Distant Horizons are optional.
- Keep the default settings: they are the best balance. Restore defaults puts them back.
- In single player, run Scan the chunks around in the settings (or
/livinghorizon scan) to show the mobs around you at once.
The scan radius is in chunks (32 = 512 blocks); every other distance is in blocks.
Careful: Mobs drawn at most and Mob distance both on Unlimited can crash the game.
Good to know
- Settings: Options screen, Mod Menu or
/livinghorizon config.
- The scan only works in single player. On a server, the optional data pack shares the mobs and makes player positions exact.
- With the data pack, every player's position is public: tell your players.
