This mod allows you to put chests and barrels into a crafting table to get an edible version.
These can help you with early-game food in areas where there arent animals such as cold biomes, but they also have a practical mid/late-game use as when you eat them you get a plank from them and for chests its oak and for barrels its spruce. with this if you are in a large dark oak forrest (or any other place with wood but not oak/spruce) you can convert your wood into spruce or oak at a balanced 8:1 ratio, still rewarding players for getting new wood types but if a player only needs a couple planks for there build this wont force them to go on a long trip to get those couple planks.
How does this help with performance you may ask?
loading chunks can TANK performance, this mod fixes this issue as players will no longer need to find biomes, which can take thousands of loaded chunks to find, if they only need a couple planks of a different type.
