Ice and Fire: Nicktale Port brings the classic Ice and Fire experience to modern versions of Minecraft using NeoForge.
The goal of this project is to preserve as much of the original gameplay, creatures, progression and mechanics as possible while adapting the mod to the major technical changes introduced in newer Minecraft and NeoForge versions.
This is not a simple version-number update.
A significant part of the original codebase required migration, adaptation and reconstruction in order to work correctly in the modern Minecraft environment.
Minecraft: 26.2 / 26.3
Mod Loader: NeoForge
Java: 25
Required Dependency: Nicktale API
You must install the correct version of Nicktale API for your Minecraft version.
The port aims to preserve the classic Ice and Fire experience, including:
Because of the extensive differences between older and modern Minecraft versions, some systems required internal changes while preserving their original gameplay purpose whenever possible.
The original Ice and Fire mod depended on Citadel.
For the target Minecraft and NeoForge environment used by this port, the existing Citadel implementation was not suitable for the migration.
Because of this, an independent library called Nicktale API was developed from scratch.
Nicktale API does not contain Citadel source code.
Nicktale API is a separate project with its own copyright and licensing terms.
The fact that Ice and Fire: Nicktale Port depends on Nicktale API does not mean both projects use the same license.
Porting Ice and Fire to the current Minecraft environment required extensive work across many systems.
The migration included changes involving:
When the original codebase was initially moved to the new environment, it produced thousands of compilation incompatibilities.
Many systems had to be updated or reconstructed while attempting to preserve the behavior and gameplay of the original mod.
The graphical side of the mod also required extensive adaptation.
Modern Minecraft versions changed several rendering systems used by older versions of Ice and Fire.
Work was therefore required in areas such as:
Some of these systems are now supported through Nicktale API.
The objective of Nicktale Port is not to redesign Ice and Fire.
The goal is to make the original experience available on modern Minecraft versions while preserving its identity.
Where possible, the port attempts to maintain:
Changes are primarily made when required for compatibility, stability or modern Minecraft APIs.
Ice and Fire is a very large mod with many interconnected systems.
Although significant testing is performed, some bugs, visual differences or compatibility issues may still exist.
Development will continue focusing on:

Minecraft: 26.2 / 26.3
Mod Loader: NeoForge
Java: 25
Dependencia obligatoria: Nicktale API
