UNNECESSARY PREAMBLE:
Gold equipment has always had a weird place in Minecraft, especially since enchantability rarely matters. The armor has decent stats and durability, and making Piglins friendly gives it a unique use. However the tools are still a mess, ranging from "niche but potentially useful" to completely worthless. Golden axes, shovels & hoes clear areas very fast (albeit expensively) and while the pickaxe mines fast, it can't harvest most ores. The golden sword is especially bad, with the same attack damage as a wooden sword and barely half of the durability. This mod aims to make the gold tools more usable, while keeping them as a side-grade to the other materials, though it can be configured to however you want.
DEFAULT CONFIGURATION:
By default, the mod changes all gold tools as follows: [all values are configurable]
• Increased durability of all tools to 117 (from 32)
• Break at the same rate as gold armor compared to their iron counterparts. Still weaker than stone (131).
• Increased attack damage of all tools by 1
• Same damage-per-swing as stone tools, excluding the axe which does slightly less (8 vs 9).
• Increased attack speed of all tools slightly
• Gives gold tools a unique niche in combat, scaling well with enchantments like sharpness.
• Decreased mining speed of all tools to 10 (from 12)
• Very slight nerf to balance out 365% increase in durability. Still faster than netherite (9).
• Increased harvest power of gold pickaxe to 2 (from 0)
• Can now mine anything an iron pickaxe can, including gold ore.
