Meet the Elder Cyclops: a towering, one-eyed boss for Minecraft Java Edition 1.20.1 on Forge.
Standing five blocks tall with 650 health, this aggressive creature attacks nearby living mobs and survival players. Its custom model features a hunched back, long arms, articulated fingers, a moving jaw, and a large central eye.
**Six special abilities**
* **Claw Sweep:** Strikes enemies in front of the boss and knocks them back.
* **Ground Slam:** Damages nearby enemies with a heavy impact and expanding dirt particles.
* **Boulder Throw:** Launches a gravity-affected rock toward a predicted target position.
* **Leaping Crush:** Jumps toward its target and deals area damage upon landing.
* **Fear Roar:** Weakens and slows nearby enemies.
* **Eye Beam:** Fires a damaging particle beam toward a targeted position. Solid blocks stop the beam.
**Combat behavior**
The cyclops prioritizes attackers, evaluates targets using distance and visibility, and can approach from the side. It selects attacks according to range, nearby enemies, and individual ability cooldowns.
Below 35% health, it enters an enraged phase with faster pursuit, shorter pauses between attacks, and increased damage for several abilities.
Its behavior uses programmed combat rules; it does not learn from players.
**Models and effects**
Includes a custom Minecraft-style model, a built-in 256×256 texture, walking and breathing animations, attack poses, particles, and existing Minecraft sounds.
Physics include gravity, projectile arcs, collision, and knockback. Ragdoll physics and terrain destruction are not included.
**Requirements**
* Minecraft Java Edition 1.20.1
* Forge 47.4.0 or a newer 47.x version
* Java 17
No additional animation library or separate resource pack is required.
**Installation**
1. Install the required Forge version.
2. Place the mod’s JAR file in your `mods` folder.
3. Launch Minecraft using the Forge profile.
For multiplayer, install the mod on both the server and every connecting client.
**Spawning**
Find the Elder Cyclops Spawn Egg in the Creative inventory’s Spawn Eggs tab, or use:
`/summon cyclops:elder ~ ~ ~`
Natural spawning is not included. Creative and spectator players are not targeted.
**Development status**
This is an experimental build. Compilation and JAR reobfuscation completed successfully, but in-game loading, visual presentation, combat balance, and multiplayer behavior have not been verified.
