A seasonal environment mod inspired by the 24 Solar Terms.
Spring rain drifting across distant fields.
Long summer days filled with the sound of insects.
Autumn forests slowly turning gold and red.
Snow quietly gathering during the longest nights of winter.
Ecliptic Seasons is a standalone seasonal environment mod inspired by the traditional Chinese 24 Solar Terms.
Rather than treating seasons as a simple switch between spring, summer, autumn, and winter, the year is divided into twenty-four distinct periods. Weather, temperature, daylight length, vegetation, agriculture, wildlife, sounds, particles, and environmental atmosphere all evolve alongside the passing seasons.
Our goal is simple:
Make Minecraft feel like a world where time truly passes.

The world follows a complete cycle of four seasons and twenty-four solar terms.
Instead of abrupt transitions, the environment changes gradually throughout the year.
As the year progresses, the world naturally transforms around you.
Weather is no longer limited to vanilla Minecraft's predictable patterns.
Different seasons have different weather tendencies, creating a more varied and believable climate.
Features include:
Snow no longer appears instantly when winter begins. Instead, it gradually forms and retreats with the climate.
The environment affects more than appearance.
Crop growth can depend on both season and humidity.
Farming in a desert can feel completely different from farming in a temperate forest.
Ecliptic Seasons focuses heavily on atmosphere.
The seasonal timeline can drive:
Listen to birds during spring mornings.
Watch leaves drift through autumn forests.
Experience the quiet stillness of a snowy winter landscape.
The mod is designed around flexibility and customization.
Players, server owners, modpack creators, and resource pack authors can tailor the experience to their needs.
Features include:
Nearly every major feature can be adjusted through configuration files.
Ecliptic Seasons is primarily developed for NeoForge, while also providing a native Fabric implementation.
To better support modpacks and seasonal gameplay, several companion projects are available:
Serene Seasons API Stub Bridge Compatibility layer for mods that depend on the Serene Seasons API.
Ecliptic Seasons: MultiMod Patch Modular compatibility patches and integrations for supported mods.
Ecliptic Seasons: Bundles Seasonal datapacks, resource packs, integrations, and optional content.
The mod also maintains compatibility with many Serene Seasons tags, helping existing content integrate more easily into seasonal gameplay.
The mod is naturally compatible with most content mods.
Some rendering mods require dedicated compatibility support to display seasonal colors, snow scenery, foliage changes, and other visual effects correctly.

Older Minecraft versions often lack systems that Ecliptic Seasons depends on. Backports are generally not planned.
The primary artwork of Ecliptic Seasons was created by YunFei, with most of the remaining visual work completed by Aerolite_Dust.
