Description

Dynamic Economy

Dynamic Economy is a mod specifically made for servers, based on the principle that the value of every item is dictated by how many of them exist in the world. If players are hoarding a certain kind of resource, the market value plummets. Conversely, if there exists only one of an item, then the value of the item is at its maximum. This is achieved by assigning what is essentially a pool of currency to each item type that exists in the game, such that an infinite quantity of each item only represents X currency, and every item represents the same amount. Using the assessor NPC implemented in the mod, players can barter items between themselves with a notion of how much each item should cost relative to another. Additionally, the mod adds a banker NPC who will convert your physical currency into virtual currency, stored centrally by the server, and a trader NPC who will buy and sell items, but only for a minimum and maximum price.

The mod is configurable in most aspects, although comes with what I'd consider as sane defaults for a server up to around 10 reasonably-active players. For larger servers, the size of the pool can be raised to account for the greater quantity of resources circulating in the player economy. For servers that want no decimal component of a currency, all the sizes and textures are configurable through the config and model files.
