This mod is for my brother Benjamin, and others of his kind, who yearn for the mines. For those who long to delve deep, to spend hours branch-mining through rock, that they may find pleasant surprises in the dark.
The mod introduces ten new gemstones that lie hidden in the stone of the Overworld. They are simply meant to be beautiful: mine them, cut them, and put them on display.
| Raw | Cut |
|---|---|
| Raw Ruby | Cut Ruby |
| Raw Sapphire | Star Sapphire |
| Raw Topaz | Cut Topaz |
| Raw Jade | Jade Egg |
| Raw Opal | Cut Opal |
| Raw Turquoise | Cut Turquoise |
| Raw Peridot | Cut Peridot |
| Raw Spinel | Cut Spinel |
| Raw Onyx | Onyx Obelisk |
| Raw Alexandrite | Cut Alexandrite |
Every gem is a detailed 3D model. Several have animated textures: opal shimmers with play of colour, and star sapphire shows its star.
Hold a raw gem in your main hand, sneak, and right-click a grindstone. One raw gem becomes one cut gem.
Both raw and cut gems can be placed on any face of a block, like amethyst, and look good in item frames. Raw and cut gems break easily, so you can rearrange your collection freely.
Gems generate in new chunks. To add them to chunks that existed before the mod was installed, set retrogen = true in serverconfig/delightofbenjamin-server.toml inside the world folder. Each old chunk is then processed once, the first time it loads, with exactly the same rules as new terrain, so tunnels you have already dug stay free of visible gems. Natural stone inside very thick walls you have built could occasionally be hit. Back up your world first.
/delightofbenjamin locate closest [radius] or /delightofbenjamin locate <type> [radius] finds the nearest raw gem in loaded chunks./delightofbenjamin survey [radius] compares the number of gems around you with the expected density.
