When you encounter creatures clad in peculiar armor...
When you stumble upon the ruins of an ancient civilization...
You will discover another world, hollow and blanketed in white snow...
Cryofloric Arts introduces a series of tools, creatures, structures, and new mechanics inspired by the Younger Dryas impact hypothesis to Minecraft.
You may find creatures wearing Patterned Armor in various locations. These creatures are typically under the effects of Frost Powder for 15 minutes. When such a creature is killed, if there are blocks nearby suitable for planting Dryas Ice Petals, a Dryas Ice Petal will generate on top of one of those blocks.
Underground, you might discover ruins housing ancient creatures, along with traps and treasures. Dryas Ice Petals can also be found within these structures.
The Dryas Ice Petal is a core item in the mod. It spreads new Dryas Ice Petals to adjacent blocks. In dark conditions, it metamorphoses into a subspecies – the Snowfall Taro, an edible crop. By baking the Snowfall Taro in a furnace, you can cause it to sprout. Consuming the sprouted Rooted Snowfall Taro grants you the Frost Powder effect. While under this effect, killing creatures causes Dryas Ice Petals to grow nearby and has a chance to increase the level of the Frost Powder effect.
When the Frost Powder effect reaches level 5, you gain the Over-Rooting effect. This provides periodic health regeneration but prevents you from dealing damage to other entities also under the Over-Rooting effect. Upon death while affected, a Bloated Snowfall Taro Tuber is generated. This process applies to most creatures with the Frost Powder effect. These activities all contribute to increasing the Frost Dust value within the chunk.
Frost Dust Value is a unique mechanic central to the mod, influencing most of its systems. When the Frost Dust value exceeds 10,000, the long-dormant White Barrens from the past will begin to generate in the world, starting to infect and overwrite it.
The mod includes an Advancement system to guide your progression. You can also use JEI to view recipes and other information for items added by the mod.
