Corpsebound

Every corpse has a story.

This mod transforms death into a physical part of your Minecraft world. Players and supported creatures leave behind articulated corpses that fall, collide, hold their belongings and remain available for interaction.

Loot a fallen enemy, carry a body away from your home, bury a companion, recover arrows from a battlefield, or build a farm that collects loot and processes the remains.

Physical corpses

Players and creatures leave behind physical corpses that fall naturally, react to impacts and settle against the terrain. Varied death poses and landing sounds make every battlefield feel different, while supported creatures retain their original shapes and sizes.

Looting & Handling Corpses

Loot their belongings. Open a corpse’s inventory with both hands empty. Choose right-click, Shift + right-click, or a custom keybind. Inventories expand to fit the loot, including compatible Curios drops, and removing armor or held items changes the body’s appearance.

Carry and bury. Use Ctrl + right-click with empty hands to carry a corpse, then right-click to put it down. Carrying slows your movement. Use a shovel to bury bodies in suitable ground; their belongings remain stored and can be recovered by breaking the burial block.

Recover arrows and heads. Arrows can remain embedded after death. Shift + right-click them with empty hands to recover eligible arrows. With Iron & Blood, supported lethal headshots can also detach heads—severed player heads can be collected with their original skin.

Let time take its course. Exposed corpses become skeletal remains after 100 hours of game time by default, keeping their belongings. Buried corpses decay separately and can provide additional flesh, bones, bone meal and a skull. Decay times and burial rewards are configurable.

Burn and harvest. Fire, lava, flint and steel, or fire charges can ignite corpses. Bodies gradually blacken, retain their charring after extinguishing, and can spread fire. Fire-resistant creatures are protected. Full charring takes 90 seconds with normal fire or 10 seconds in lava.

Fully charred corpses can be harvested with three left-click hits, recovering up to 30% of their belongings in total. Each hit also drops 1–3 charcoal, plus 2–5 rotten flesh and 2–4 bones where appropriate, accompanied by ash and smoke.

Automate collection. Hoppers and hopper minecarts collect corpse loot and charred remains, making mob farms possible. Extract items while bodies burn, then collect the remains—or let an enabled intake remove a non-burning corpse after 10 seconds. Player-corpse collection is disabled by default.

Optional mod integrations

Corpsebound includes integration paths for:

  • Iron & Blood: supported wound appearance, bleeding eligibility and lethal-headshot detachment.
  • Epic Fight: supported death takeover and carrying presentation.
  • Curios: integrated death loot.
  • MCA Reborn: supported customized character appearances.
  • PlayerRevive: correct corpse dimensions after the downed state.
  • Worthy Adversaries: supported individual size variants.
  • FirstPerson Model: carrying presentation.
  • GeckoLib, AzureLib and supported EMF/ETF models: model and texture capture.

Ice and Fire dragons are excluded by default, allowing their native corpse and resource-harvesting system to operate.

All integrations are optional. Iron & Blood controls its own ground-seepage effects and requires its corresponding fix for that separate behavior.

Configuration and cleanup

The built-in Config screen provides categories, descriptions, validated controls and Save/Reset/Cancel actions, with English, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese text.

Configure corpse spawning, entity exclusions, looting controls, carrying speed, decay, automation and available physics/rendering settings.

You can also:

  • Generate player corpses only.
  • Set separate player and NPC lifetime limits.
  • Keep the existing behavior by leaving fixed lifetime limits disabled.
  • Extend supported body classifications, fire immunity and ash-remains rules through entity tags.

Player corpses remain indefinitely by default. NPC corpses retain their existing distance-based cleanup behavior unless configured otherwise.

Administrators can remove loaded corpses using:

  • /corpsebound clear
  • /corpsebound clear 64 players
  • /corpsebound clear 64 mobs
  • /corpsebound clear all

Cleanup operates in the current dimension, releases remaining items and skips buried, carried or currently open corpses.

Designed for persistent worlds

Corpsebound uses server-authoritative physics, inventories and interactions so multiplayer clients share the same corpse state.

Sleeping physics, shared collision queries, nearby terrain-change wakeups, selective synchronization, visibility culling, cached model data and bounded ash-texture updates reduce unnecessary work while retaining corpse behavior.

Its defining feature is the connection between these systems: the same corpse can fall, retain its appearance and equipment, be looted, carried, buried, burned, harvested and processed by a farm.
