Clanging Howl is a futuristic sci-fi mod with some horror elements. The project aims to expand the cold biomes, adding new items, gadgets and weapons with their own properties to aid your survival, as well as new terrifying techno-flesh creatures, and atmospheric structures with replayability. Extraterrestrial objects from space will grant you access to new technologies, but with these gifts comes a curse: alien creatures will appear in your world, seeking to spread. Develop and utilize the technologies you've discovered, and confront the alien creatures, or become part of them... The mod is still in fairly early stages of development, so there are a lot of interesting things to come.
Extraterrestrial objects Your immersion into the mod's content begins with Extraterrestrial Objects. You'll find them periodically throughout the world, but most often in cold biomes. Extraterrestrial objects encountered in cold biomes are often larger and carry more resources. Extraterrestrial objects themselves carry new resources you need to progress further in the mod, but you'll also occasionally encounter new lifeforms with them that aren't particularly friendly.
Examples of extraterrestrial objects
Structures In addition to extraterrestrial objects, the mod may also feature full-fledged structures themed after research stations. They are mostly found in cold environments. These structures contain important and unique loot, needed to craft gadgets or obtain unique, powerful enchantments for your advanced tools. These structures may also feature Consummate Nests, a special type of spawner that summons waves of techno-flesh creatures, which you can defeat for a reward. These nests regenerate over time, allowing you to replay the battle for a reward. This makes these structures highly replayable.
Research Cabin A small abandoned building where you can take a break and find items from the mod.
Research Station A large structure found throughout the snowy plains. It is an abandoned building of researchers who encountered extraterrestrial beings. The structure contains a lot of mod loot and also has a Consummate Nest.
Meteor shower Meteor Shower is a new global event added by the mod. It occurs every 15 nights. Before it starts, you'll hear something falling from the sky, followed by a shining splash on the horizon, followed by a meteor shower that lasts for 3 minutes. During the meteor shower, small meteorites will fall from the sky, dealing minor damage upon landing. When meteorites land, they may sometimes drop an extraterrestrial rock, a piece of extraterrestrial steel, or, rarely, a heart of decay. All this makes the meteor shower dangerous for anyone who doesn't avoid it, and also significantly increases the chance of infecting living creatures. Also, you can't sleep during a meteor shower. An area can be protected from a meteor shower thanks to the Barrier of Extraterrestrial Activity.
Items The mod features various resources and items you need to craft new items and tools. Most items can be crafted, but some resources will need to be found in the world or harvested from mobs. Below are the main functional items. To learn the recipes for specific items, we recommend using JEI
Extraterrestrial Steel One of the mod's primary resources. You can find it in Extraterrestrial Objects as meteorite ore, and also as ore in the world in cold climates at altitudes of 100-40 (the higher the altitude, the more common). You can also obtain some steel from new mobs.
Extraterrestrial Energy Crystal
The primary source of energy for your advanced tools. They can be found growing on the surface of Extraterrestrial Objects. You can also grow these crystals using a Crystal Former; the colder the biome, the larger the crystal will grow.
Extraterrestrial instruments
Crafted from Extraterrestrial Steel, their stats are somewhere between diamond and iron tools, but they are highly enchantable, similar to gold tools. Attacks with these tools also inflict Cosmic Irradiation on the enemy, reducing the target's maximum health by 15% and attack damage by 10%. These tools also deal increased damage to Techno-Flesh creatures (4 more damage)
Extraterrestrial Hammer
It's a melee weapon that, like the Extraterrestrial Tools, applies Cosmic Irradiation to its attacks and deals increased damage to Techno-Flesh creatures. It also has some tool-like properties. You can right-click on some industrial blocks to damage them (for example, you can turn a Steel Plate Block into a Damaged Steel Plate Block). You will also need a hammer to craft Steel Plates.
Industrial Adjustable Wrench
Allows you to turn some industrial blocks on and off by right-clicking. You can also use it to repair damaged industrial blocks and golems by right-clicking, but this will consume the wrench's durability. Energy Batteries
They are an essential component for some crafting recipes and also act as energy carriers, which you can then transfer to your industrial tools using a Portable Charger. Batteries come in two types: regular (2000 energy) and Energy-intensive (7000 energy).
Portable Charger
It can store up to six different energy batteries. To open the battery storage, press the right mouse button while holding the Charger. When active, it passively transfers energy from the batteries stored within to all your advanced tools with insufficient energy. Every second, it transfers 20 units of energy to all advanced tools. Discharged batteries are automatically removed from its storage.
Blaze Fuel Cylinder
Provides fuel for the flamethrower when it runs low. Stacks up to 16 at a time.
Blaze Burner
It's functionally identical to flint and steel, but it's significantly more durable. If you hit someone with it, the target will catch fire.
Advanced Tools Unlike regular tools, advanced tools use energy or fuel and have no durability. All advanced tools are highly effective in their respective areas and also have a number of unique enchantments. You can charge tools using a Portable Charger or a Stationary Charging Station. If your tool runs out of power, you won't be able to use it until you recharge it at least a little.
Advanced Hand Drill
Holding the right mouse button allows you to quickly mine stone and earth blocks. The drill will also deal one damage every half second to all mobs in front of it while active. Each second of use consumes energy. You can charge the tool using a Portable Charger or a Stationary Charging Station. The drill can be enchanted with vanilla Minecraft enchantments such as Fortune, Silk Touch, and Efficiency. However, the drill can also be enchanted with a number of new enchantments specific to Advanced Tools, as well as one unique rare enchantment specific to it. The drill can be enchanted with the following new enchantments: -Energy Efficiency. For each level of the enchantment, reduces energy consumption by one. Maximum enchantment level III. -Ecological Energy. This enchantment cannot be obtained using an enchantment table, but can be found in structures from the mod or as loot from the Consummate Nest. A tool with this enchantment passively charges when the player is exposed to direct sunlight. Also, when the player is struck by lightning, the tool charges 400 energy. -Tunnel Driller. Unique to the drill only. This enchantment cannot be obtained using an enchantment table, but can be found in structures from the mod or as loot from the Consummate Nest. Conflicts with Fortune and Silk Touch. While the enchantment is applied to the drill, it will dig in a 3x3 area, but when the player is sneaking, it will only dig one block. Significantly increases energy consumption.
Advanced Chainsaw
Holding the right mouse button allows you to quickly mine wood and plant blocks. The chainsaw will also deal three damage every half second to all mobs in front of it while active. Each second of use consumes energy. You can charge the tool using a Portable Charger or a Stationary Charging Station. The chainsaw can be enchanted with vanilla Minecraft enchantments such as Efficiency, Sharpness, and Looting. However, the chainsaw can also be enchanted with a number of new enchantments specific to Advanced Tools, as well as one unique rare enchantment specific to it. The chainsaw can be enchanted with the following new enchantments: -Energy Efficiency. For each level of the enchantment, reduces energy consumption by one. Maximum enchantment level III. -Ecological Energy. This enchantment cannot be obtained using an enchantment table, but can be found in structures from the mod or as loot from the Consummate Nest.A tool with this enchantment passively charges when the player is exposed to direct sunlight. Also, when the player is struck by lightning, the tool charges 400 energy. -Overdrive. Unique to chainsaws only. This enchantment cannot be obtained using an enchantment table, but can be found in structures from the mod or as loot from the Consummate Nest. When using a chainsaw with this enchantment, the player enters a state of overdrive, increasing their movement speed by 45% and chainsaw damage by 4. The enchantment increases energy consumption. -Full Power. Unique to chainsaws only. This enchantment cannot be obtained using an enchantment table, but can be found in structures from the mod or as loot from the Consummate Nest. This enchantment allows the chainsaw to ignore invulnerability frames when used, and its damage rate is doubled. However, this enchantment has a drawback: your chainsaw will begin to overheat when used, which is indicated by a gradually filling gauge. If the chainsaw overheats, it will go into a temporary cooldown. Enchanting also increases energy consumption. Advanced Chainsword
Functions like a regular sword, but deals significantly less damage when fully discharged. A critical hit with the chainsword reduces the opponent's maximum health by 5%, and subsequent critical hits increase the effect, up to a maximum of 25%. Attacks also deal more damage to techno-flesh creatures (7 more damage). Each attack consumes energy. You can charge the chainsword using a Portable Charger or a Stationary Charging Station. The chainsword can be enchanted with vanilla Minecraft enchantments such as Sharpness, Looting, Fire Aspect, Knockback and Sweeping Edge. However, the chainsword can also be enchanted with a number of new enchantments specific to Advanced Tools, as well as one unique rare enchantment specific to it. The chainsword can be enchanted with the following new enchantments: -Energy Efficiency. -Killer Charge. Unique to chainsword only. This enchantment cannot be obtained using an enchantment table, but can be found in structures from the mod or as loot from the Consummate Nest. Killing a mob with a Chainsword with this enchantment will cause a small electrical surge where the mob dies, damaging other nearby mobs, temporarily slowing them down, and will also cause all advanced tools in the player's inventory to gain 40 energy charge. -Exceeding the limit. Unique to chainsword only. This enchantment cannot be obtained using an enchantment table, but can be found in structures from the mod or as loot from the Consummate Nest. This enchantment increases the damage of chainsword attacks by 0.5, and the maximum Sawing up Health effect applied by critical weapon hits has been increased from level 5 to 10, for a total of 50% reduction in enemy health. Flamethrower
Holding the right mouse button launches a stream of flame that burns everything in front of it. Enemies hit by the stream of flame take 60% increased fire damage. Every second of use consumes fuel. Fuel is automatically replenished when you use an empty flamethrower with a Blaze Fuel Cylinder in your inventory, this action consumes one Cylinder. The Flamethrower can gain a number of enchantments unique to it. The Flamethrower can be enchanted with the following enchantments: -Fuel Saving. Reduces fuel consumption for each level. Maximum enchantment level III. -Napalm Stream. For each level of enchantment, increases the base damage dealt and the duration of burning of the enemy. Each enchantment level grants +1 to Fire Stream damage and +5 seconds to target burn time. Enchantment increases fuel consumption. Maximum enchantment level III. -Chain Burn. This enchantment cannot be obtained using an enchantment table, but can be found in structures from the mod or as loot from the Consummate Nest.Conflicts with Fuel Burst. When the stream of fire hits an enemy, it applies the Inner Heat debuff. After the enemy dies, it explodes in a fiery blast that deals 5 fire damage to everyone within a 3-block radius, sets them on fire, and also applies the Inner Heat debuff. -Fuel Burst. This enchantment cannot be obtained using an enchantment table, but can be found in structures from the mod or as loot from the Consummate Nest.Completely changes the flamethrower's operating principle, from a continuous stream of flame to a single-click burst of flame that powerfully pushes back all mobs and projectiles in front of it, after which it goes into a short reload. Enchantment increases fuel consumption. -Soul Burner. This enchantment cannot be obtained from the enchantment table but can be found in nether structures, mod structures, or in the Consummate Nest. This enchantment conflicts with Fuel Burst, changing the flame color to turquoise, increasing the damage of the flame stream by 1, and the flame stream itself begins to slow enemies, and each enemy killed by fire around you restores 10 units of flamethrower fuel.
Blocks The mod adds a variety of blocks, both decorative and functional, which will give you access to new building ideas.
Extraterrestrial Stone Most extraterrestrial objects are made of Extraterrestrial Stone, which is where you can actually mine it. The block has high explosion resistance, and there are many different variations.
Steel Blocks and Calcite Tiles These are primarily decorative blocks for your futuristic structures. Damaged versions of steel blocks can be obtained by using the Extraterrestrial Hammer.
Stationary Charging Station
By right-clicking on a block with an Advanced Tool in hand, you can place it on the Charging Station. The tool will gradually charge while on the Charging Station (at a rate of 4 units per second). This type of charging is quite slow, but it doesn't require any additional resources. The block can also be used as a display for your Advanced Tools.
Crystal Former While active, it creates a small cold zone that gradually freezes mobs and players near it, as well as gradually freezing nearby water. When the crystal former is active, Extraterrestrial Energy Crystals gradually begin to grow on it; the colder the biome the block is located in, the larger the crystals can grow. The crystal former can be turned on and off by applying a redstone signal or using an Industrial Adjustable Wrench.
Technoflesh Blocks They're mostly decorative, except for the Technoflesh Nest. It will spawn a Heart of Decay near it. The block can't be mined without Silk Touch, and breaking it normally will grant XP. Blocks are mined faster with a hoe.
Techno-Flesh Creatures This mod will introduce a new type of creature to your world: techno-flesh creatures. These creatures are extraterrestrial, intelligent parasites that infect living creatures, gradually transforming them into their own kind. This type of creature prefers cold and fears fire. As you survive, techno-flesh creatures will become stronger and more resilient, gradually increasing their stats and damage resistance. To disable their adaptive damage resistance, you'll need to set them on fire. Sometimes these creatures can hide inside the bodies of passive mobs, animals and villagers, interaction with an infected one will cause it to instantly transform, so be careful. After killing an infected, a Heart of Decay will appear from it. To avoid this, you need to set the infected on fire before killing it.
Heart of Decay
The most niche representative of the techno-flesh creatures, yet plays a key role in the initial spawning of other mobs. The Heart of Decay attacks all animals, villagers, and all types of zombies to infest them, after which the infected will eventually transform into one of the techno-flesh creatures. This monster can also perform well in combat due to its ability to crawl along walls like a spider, as well as its ability to periodically spit out a neurotoxic venom that damages the target whenever they move. However, this creature is most afraid of fire and, when caught on fire, will panic and run in circles instead of attacking. Take advantage of this weakness.
Extraterrestrial Reaper
A creature that combines a decent melee fighter with a more effective spreader of infection. The monster can appear on its own at night starting from the 15th night, or it can appear as a result of the transformation of an infected humanoid mob such as Zombies, Villagers, and Illagers. The Reaper will actively infect humanoid mobs, gradually transforming them into its own kind. His attacks against the player will inflict the Sawing Up Health effect, which reduces the player's health by 5% per level. This effect can stack up to 10 times (-50% HP). Although vulnerable to fire, it will not stop attacking its target while engulfed in flames.
Flesh Maiden
It represents pure aggression. Unlike its relatives, it is incapable of spreading diseases, but it can pose a serious threat to its opponents. The monster can appear on its own at night starting from the 15th night, or it can appear as a result of the transformation of an infected humanoid mob such as Zombies, Villagers, and Illagers. The Flesh Maiden has two types of attacks: a normal bite and a whip attack with a two-block range. During the ranged attack, she unleashes a whip-like, barbed tongue from her mouth that can damage opponents at a two-block range. This creature's attacks deal significant damage, so plan your battles accordingly.
Hematoma
A techno-flesh creature that spawns starting on day 15 of the game and is a transformation variant of infected small animals (those whose size is greater than half a block but not more than one and a half blocks in height), and is also a guaranteed transformation of pigs. This monster is an infectious type of techno-flesh creature that, when animals or monsters are nearby, begins to emit a Attractive Gas, which forces all animals to follow it and monsters to attack it. When the Hematoma dies, it explodes in a bloody splash that infects everyone nearby; those unaffected by the infection simply take damage. Moreover, this type of infection occurs much faster than usual. Hematoma itself is not strong in combat, and other techno-flesh creatures do not stand up for it, as its task is to die and infect.
Bloody Spreader
A techno-flesh creature that spawns starting on day 15 of the game and is a transformation variant of infected small animals (those whose size is greater than half a block but not more than one and a half blocks in height), and is also a guaranteed transformation of wolves. A combat-type techno-flesh creature, the Blood Spreader is a very agile enemy. When attacking, it often tries to immediately retreat from its target, only to attack again after a short delay. Each time the Blood Spreader receives or deals damage, it can release a blood clot in a random direction. This clot remains on the ground and can be broken by attacking. Once it has created at least five blood clot, it will howl, transforming all nearby blood clot into bloody copies of itself. Blood copies always have half the maximum health of the Blood Spreader that summoned them, and also have a reduced chance to create a blood clot when attacking an enemy or taking damage. However, copies cannot create copies of themselves.
Prowler
A techno-flesh creature that spawns starting on day 15 of the game and is a transformation variant of infected big animals (those who are more than one and a half blocks tall), and is also a guaranteed transformation of Horses. This monster is a combat type of techno flesh creature, being an extremely dangerous and stealthy opponent. Upon sighting its prey, it enters stealth mode, becoming completely invisible but still making a loud stomping sound. Before attacking, it emerges from stealth mode with a special attack that reduces the target's armor by 40%, and if the player blocks the attack with a shield, the shield will go on a temporary cooldown. Furthermore, any attack the Prowler makes inflicts a neurotoxin, which intensifies starting at day 40. After taking enough damage, this creature retreats and enters stealth mode again, hiding from view to launch another surprise attack. Fire and X-ray Goggles will help you track it while stealthed.
Carcass
A techno-flesh creature that spawns starting on day 15 of the game and is a transformation variant of infected big animals (those who are more than one and a half blocks tall). It is an infector type of techno-flesh creature and is an excellent tank. Has two active and one passive ability. When she sees a mob that can be infected, she spits a shotgun-like volley of blood at it, infecting it with a quickly passing infection. She can also use this spit in combat, dealing damage to them from a distance. When Carcass's health drops below 90%, she will begin to use an area-of-effect attack that has a short delay before it activates, damaging all enemies around her and knocking them back. This attack can be blocked with a shield, but after this, the shield will go on cooldown. When another techno-flesh creature dies within a certain radius of the carcass, it grows in size, which not only increases its size but also increases its damage from both basic attacks and the shockwave from its area-of-effect attacks, as well as its health. This creature can grow up to five times, and subsequent deaths of its kin will simply heal it.
