Charmbound Companions
Charmbound Companions adds magical companion pets controlled through a single Charmbound Amulet. Right-click the amulet to open your companion collection, unlock pets through themed gameplay challenges, then summon loyal companions with unique utility abilities.

What The Mod Does
Charmbound Companions is built around one core item: the Charmbound Amulet. Instead of carrying separate charms for each pet, players use the amulet to open their companion collection, choose an unlocked companion, and summon or dismiss it.
Only one active companion is allowed per player. Summoning a new companion safely dismisses the previous active companion first.
Installation
- Install Minecraft Java 1.20.1.
- Install Forge 1.20.1.
- Put
charmboundcompanions-1.0.1.jar into your Minecraft mods folder.
- Launch the Forge 1.20.1 profile.

- Right-click to open the companion selection GUI.
- The amulet is not consumed when used.
- The inventory and hand icon uses the vanilla Fire Charge appearance.

Crafting Recipe
Craft 1 Charmbound Amulet in a normal crafting table with 4 Gold Ingots in the corners and 1 Iron Ingot in the center.

Companion GUI
The Charmbound Amulet GUI lists every current companion with its name, role, ability name, short description, status, and Summon/Dismiss button. Locked companions show their unlock requirement and progress in the amulet menu.
Current Companions
Ember Fox
A fiery fox companion that cooks raw food and protects you with brief Fire Resistance during fire emergencies.
- Role: Fire survival companion
- Ability: Warmth of the Ember
- Uses a vanilla-style fox model and texture.
- Unlock Ember Fox by igniting 50 fires with Flint and Steel.
- Unlock progress is shown in the Charmbound Amulet GUI.
- Follows the owner and gives off flame particles.
- Cooks exactly 1 supported vanilla raw food every 30 seconds while nearby.
- Gives Fire Resistance for 5 seconds when the owner is burning or recently touched lava.
- Fire Resistance cooldown: 60 seconds.
Moss Turtle
A gentle nature companion that grants short Resistance and slowly heals you while nearby.
- Role: Defensive nature companion
- Ability: Verdant Shell / Gentle Bloom
- Uses a vanilla-style turtle model and texture.
- Unlock Moss Turtle by digging up 50 sand blocks.
- Unlock progress is shown in the Charmbound Amulet GUI.
- Follows the owner and gives off nature particles.
- Grants Resistance I for 6 seconds every 20 seconds while nearby.
- Heals the owner for 1 heart every 30 seconds if hurt, nearby, and above 6 food.
- Moss Turtle movement is tuned to keep up with a walking player better than a vanilla turtle.
Glow Moth
A glowing cave companion that grants constant Night Vision while active and briefly highlights nearby hostile mobs.
- Role: Cave visibility companion
- Ability: Lantern Dust
- Unlock Glow Moth by placing 50 torches in dark areas or at night.
- Unlock progress is shown in the Charmbound Amulet GUI.
- Follows and flies near the owner.
- Gives off soft glow particles.
- Grants constant Night Vision while active.
- Briefly reveals nearby hostile mobs within 20 blocks with Glowing when Lantern Dust activates.
Lucky Rabbit
A lucky companion that finds small useful items and occasional simple mining resources every 2 minutes.
- Role: Luck companion
- Ability: Lucky Hop
- Uses a vanilla-style rabbit model and texture.
- Unlock Lucky Rabbit by collecting 50 Coal, Raw Copper, Raw Iron, or Raw Gold.
- Unlock progress is shown in the Charmbound Amulet GUI.
- Follows the owner and gives off happy particles.
- Gives exactly 1 small useful item per proc while nearby.
- Reward pool includes farming items, simple survival items, and occasional mining resources.
- Possible rewards include wheat seeds, beetroot seeds, carrot, potato, apple, string, feather, rabbit hide, coal, raw copper, raw iron, redstone dust, lapis lazuli, raw gold, gold nuggets, and amethyst shards.
- Lucky Hop does not give diamonds, emeralds, netherite, enchanted books, armor, tools, weapons, rare mob drops, or full ore blocks.
Honey Bee
A farming companion that spreads magical pollen to gently grow nearby crops.
- Role: Farming companion
- Ability: Pollination Aura
- Uses a vanilla-style bee model and texture.
- Unlock Honey Bee by harvesting 50 fully grown crops.
- Unlock progress is shown in the Charmbound Amulet GUI.
- Follows and flies near the owner.
- Grows up to 3 nearby supported crops by 1 stage every 45 seconds.
- Supported crops include wheat, carrots, potatoes, beetroot, pumpkin stems, melon stems, and sweet berry bushes.
- Pollination Aura does not harvest crops, create free items, or give items directly to the player.
Base Companion Rules
- Companions follow their owner.
- Companions teleport closer if they get too far away.
- Companions are fully invulnerable during normal gameplay.
- Players, mobs, projectiles, explosions, fire, lava, drowning, fall damage, suffocation, cactus, freezing, magic, wither, poison, lightning, and environmental damage cannot kill companions.
- Companions do not attack mobs.
- Companions do not drop loot or XP.
- Companions do not naturally despawn.
- Companions are removed through the Charmbound Amulet dismiss/swap system or safe cleanup logic.
CurseForge Upload Notes

The uploadable file is charmboundcompanions-1.0.1.jar and should be the normal reobfuscated jar, not a sources/dev jar. README.md and CHANGELOG.md can be used for the CurseForge description and changelog fields.
Known Limitations
- Current target is singleplayer Forge 1.20.1.
- Dedicated server support is not currently tested or supported.
- All current companions have unlock requirements with progress shown in the Charmbound Amulet GUI.
- Only one companion can be active at a time.
- Companion visuals mostly use vanilla-style models/placeholders and may be improved later.
- Ember Cook supports only vanilla raw food.
- Cross-dimension companion transfer is not implemented yet.
