Fishing is an extremely lackluster aspect of Minecraft, but Aqualine aims to change that! This mod revamps the fishing system to make it more immersive and useful to the player, essentially making fishing a progressible system in the game. With a tweaked fishing loot pool, mobs can now be caught, making for some interesting combat experiences while fishing!
Fishing Level
Catching fish and sea creatures increases your fishing XP and helps you level up your Fishing Level! Every 5 fishing levels, the player receives one extra heart of max health. Fishing XP scales the more you level up, and the maximum fishing level can be configured to add balance to your pack.
Fishing Rods
Seven new fishing rods have been added to the game, each with its own perks and bonuses. Fishing Speed is its own attribute aside from the Lure enchantment to make fishing faster. Luck can also be incorporated into fishing to increase your chances of catching rarer items.
Baits
Fishing baits can be crafted and used while fishing to add a variety of boosts to your experience. Baits are automatically consumed from your inventory while fishing and their bonuses are added to your fishing line.
Catching Mobs
As part of the fishing loot, you can now catch sea creatures that will spawn in your world! Some creatures are passive and some may be hostile. A few new sea creatures have been added with special drops revolving around fishing too! There is also built-in integration with several mods to add their mobs to the fishing loot pool. More integration is coming soon.
Data Driven
To integrate fishing into your progression or customize it to your liking, fishing loot is now more easily data-driven to allow mod pack creators to make simple changes. Fishing loot uses a rarity system and entities as well as items can be added in or modified. See the technical wiki for more information.
Note: The base vanilla fishing rod has not been modified to allow players to use loot tables from other mods. Players must craft an Aqualine rod to use the modified fishing loot.
