AI Speedrunner adds an autonomous, Steve-like runner that attempts to complete Minecraft independently using Codex AI.
The runner has its own position, health, hunger, inventory, equipment, navigation, and timer. It does not control or depend on the observing player.
The current version supports Minecraft Java 1.21.1 and is optimized for the set seed -1950884254474434485.
The runner follows survival-style restrictions:
The AI receives information about the runner's nearby visible environment and must react to blocked paths, missing resources, and rejected actions.
/summon ai — Spawns the autonomous runner/start — Starts the run and displays a timer above the hotbar/ai — Opens the runner's 36-slot inventory/msg <message> — Sends a message to the AI/ai-connect codex — Checks or opens the Codex login page/ai-connect status — Displays the current run status/ai-connect stop — Stops the runner/ai-model — Displays the selected model/ai-reasoning — Displays the reasoning configurationThe mod uses a local gateway connected to Codex through your existing ChatGPT login. No OpenAI Platform API key or prepaid API balance is required.
The included gateway currently uses:
gpt-5.6-luna127.0.0.1The gateway must be running before starting the AI.
The runner is a custom automated entity rather than a real Mojang player account. Its actions are survival-validated, but automated runs are not automatically eligible for official speedrun leaderboards.
The current target time is 1 minute and 50 seconds, although completion within that time is not guaranteed.
