⚠️ Needs the Dragon seeker Resource Pack for the animated textures: [RESOURCE PACK]

# Dragon Eye — Stage 5 Dragon Detector (Ice and Fire addon)

Dragon Eye is a small data pack that adds a dragon-sensing item for Ice and Fire on Minecraft 1.20.1 (Forge). The animated textures come from the separate Dragon Eye Resource Pack (link above).

Hold it or wear it, and it reacts to fully grown (Stage 5) Fire, Ice and Lightning dragons near you. The closer you get, the more the eye wakes up.

### Features

- Detects fully grown dragons only. Fire, Ice and Lightning dragons that have reached Stage 5.

- Three colour themes. Orange for fire, blue for ice, purple for lightning.

- Wear it as a necklace (needs Curios API). Your hands stay free. When a dragon comes into range, a pendant on a chain swings in from the top right of your screen like a hypnotist's watch, slows down and settles. The ring around it has 12 lights that fill up as you get closer. When the dragon leaves, the chain is pulled back up and the pendant disappears.

- Or just hold it. Without Curios, the item itself changes: calm breathing eye, then it wakes up with a sound, then opens wider, then fully open when you are within 20 blocks.

- Detection range: starts around 120 blocks and reaches the full stage at 20 blocks.

- The eye blinks, pulses and sparkles (with the resource pack).

- No extra mod is needed for the item itself. It is a vanilla item with a custom look.

### How to get it

Craft it in a crafting table:

- Top row: Eye of Ender in the middle.

- Middle row: Eye of Ender, Compass, Eye of Ender.

- Bottom row: Iron Ingot in the middle.

Or with a command:

/give @s heart_of_the_sea{DragonSeeker:1b,CustomModelData:7000,display:{Name:'{"text":"Dragon Eye","color":"gold","italic":false}'}}

### Requirements

- Minecraft: 1.20.1

- Loader: Forge

- Required: Ice and Fire

- Required for the look: Dragon Eye Resource Pack (separate download, link at the top)

- Optional: Curios API (for the necklace slot)

### Installation

1. Put the data pack in your world's datapacks folder.

2. Download the Dragon Eye Resource Pack from its page, put it in resourcepacks, enable it and move it to the top.

3. In the world, run /reload.

### Things to know

- The pendant position on screen was tuned for GUI Scale 3. At other GUI scales it can look bigger, smaller or sit in a different place.

- In hand mode, Minecraft plays the item re-equip animation when the item changes its look. This happens up to three times as you approach a dragon.

- The data pack adds the Heart of the Sea to the Curios necklace tag, so every Heart of the Sea can go in the necklace slot. Only the Dragon Eye reacts to dragons.

- Stage 5 is detected by dragon age (100 days or older).

- Tested on Minecraft 1.20.1 with Forge 47.4.22, Ice and Fire 2.1.13 and Curios API 5.14.1. Other versions are untested.

### AI disclosure
