Overshield by Valtyk

Overshield is a really simple and small mod made with MCreator that implements the shield mecanic used in some game as Halo do. It means extra HP that quickly recover after a few time without taking damage. You can have up to 20 extra HP, which give you a second health bar.

Content

This mod add one GUI (and its related keybind), 3 items and a HUD element : the shield bar.

The shield bar

It appears above your food bar (leaving space for air) and represent the same number of point as a health bar : each little shield icon can store up to two points.

The shield act as a second health bar a bit like absorption and health boost do : it will cancel damages you take on your "main" HPs. When your shield breaks, it will absorb everything THEN break. That means that even with only 1 shield point, you can suffer from a charged creeper's explosion or a fall from the high skies, your shield will take all damages then break, leaving you uncovered. A fully depleted shield takes 10 seconds to restore, regardless of his level.

Your shield will absorbs any kind of damage : hits, fire, potions, fall damage, cactuses, ... But in order to keep the hunger mechanic up to date, you will not be able to regenerate your shield if you are out of food. No food, no shield.

Items

You have a total of 3 items : the magic shard, the magic gem, and the magic essence, each one is the upgrade of the previous.

Magic shard

The magic shard can be obtained by blast-furnacing an ender perl. When placed on the dedicated GUI and pressed the button "Activate", you obtain a level 1 shield.

This shield has a limit of 4 shield point, and recharges after 10 seconds.

Magic gem

The magic gem is obtained by surrounding a magic shard with 8 diamond. You can retrieve your previous used shard by pressing "Return gem". When placed in the dedicated GUI, you obtain a level 2 shield.

This shield has a limit of 10 shield point, and recharges after 5 seconds.

Magic essence

The magic essence is obtained by surrounding a magic gem with 4 nether stars. You can retrieve your previously crafted gem by pressing the "Return gem" button. When placed in the dedicated GUI, you obtain a level 3 shield. This is the most powerful shield of the mod.

This shield has a limit of 20 shield point, and recharges after 3 seconds.

GUI

The GUI is very simply presented : a slot and 2 buttons : Activate, and Retrieve. The slot is used to place a gem inside. Activate consume the gem and give you a shield accordingly. Nothing happen if another item is inserted. Retrieve allows you to dismantle your shield and give your gem back, whatever was your gem.
