Leather Tweaks

Description

 

Leather Tweaks is a mod designed to add general improvements to obtaining leather that I have seen in a few modpacks.

 

Features:

 

Leather Cutting:

 

Leather armor, saddles, books, and horse armor can be cut up into leather to make leather more easily accessible.

This can be done using the new knife item, crafted as such:

 

 

This item also doubles as a relatively weak makeshift weapon, acting identical to a sword.

With the knife crafted, leather items can be cut by holding the leather item in the offhand and the knife in the main hand and right-clicking.

 

 

The amount of leather each item gives when cut apart is configurable.

This entire system is also toggleable in the config.

 

Craftable Saddles:

 

Additionally, the following recipe is added to make saddles more easily accessible:

 

 

This is toggleable and can be disabled in the config.

 

Rotten Flesh to Leather:

 

Currently, there is a relatively basic rotten flesh to leather system.

Hide, a new item, can be obtained by smelting rotten flesh on a campfire or in a furnace.

 

 

 

This hide uses the same leather recipe as rabbit hide, and four of it can be used to create a piece of leather.

 

 

The ability to smelt rotten flesh into hide is toggleable in the config.

 

 

Finally, hide can be obtained in two other ways:

 

-cutting books apart through the leather cutting system

 

-killing mobs that drop rotten flesh with a fire related method(fire aspect, flint and steel, etc.)

 

 

When killing mobs that drop rotten flesh with fire, they will drop a randomized 1-3 hide in addition to their normal drops.

This amount is currently unaffected by looting and the feature itself is not toggleable.

(I will probably change this in the future)

 

 

Feel free to include this mod in any sort of modpack or project, I don't really care.

 

Please report any bugs in this mod to me if you find them.  I'm really new to modding and probably made a few stupid oversights : ).

Also, if you have additional ideas for this mod please let me know.  It currently only has a few features and would love to add other useful features around leather and leather accessibility.
